🍂 Fall flavors are creeping in early! We had planned to hold off until September, but this cool snap has us pulling out the pumpkin spice and apple goodness a little sooner than expected.

This Friday at Sedalia Area Farmers' Market you just might spot…
✨ Pumpkin Spice treats
✨ Apple-inspired goodies
✨ Bagels, breads & more

We’re not saying the whole fall lineup is ready (yet 😉)… but we are saying it’s time to lean into those cozy vibes. See ya Friday! 🥯🍎

The fair’s over 🎡, school’s back in session 🎒… and let’s be honest, it’s been a week.

The Dutch have a word for what we all need right about now: Koekentroost (koo-ken-troast). It means “cookie comfort” — basically, that cookie you grab when life’s been a little too much. 😉🍪

We’ll have plenty of Koekentroost (plus bagels, bread, & more) waiting Sedalia Area Farmers' Market on Friday, 3–6 PM in the Nucor Pavilion. Fresh from the oven and ready for anyone who survived the fair, the school drop-off line, or just a week that wouldn’t quit.

Come reward yourself.

Because cookies don’t judge. 🍪😍

𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐎𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐥𝐞

Seasons change, and so does our schedule. With school back in full swing and a few less hands in the kitchen, we’re adjusting our order times just a bit.

🕛 Online orders for Friday market pickup will now 𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐧 𝐒𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐚𝐭 𝐍𝐨𝐨𝐧 and 𝐜𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐖𝐞𝐝𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐚𝐭 𝟗:𝟎𝟎 𝐏𝐌
This helps us plan bake days, keep everything fresh, and still juggle farm chores, family, and school schedules. As always, we’re happy to take special orders too — whether it’s a favorite flavor or a bigger batch for your gathering, just let us know.

Thanks for supporting our family farm — we love baking for you each week! 🍪🥯🍞

📚✏️ Back to school means changes for our crew! Taylor just kicked off her new job as an Animal Science Instructor at SFCC. Hard to believe she was only in 8th grade when we started farmers markets — now she’s teaching college kids! (Talk about time flying. 😅)

Shaunna is back in the classroom as a substitute teacher and already has days scheduled this week. She probably didn’t know exactly what she was signing up for when she joined this crew — between farm life, baking marathons, market days, and putting up with Zack. But she handles it all like a pro (and with a smile most days 😉).

And Jaxson? Somehow he started 6th grade today. Many of you have watched him grow up right alongside us at market since he was just a little guy. ❤️ Some of us are not okay with how fast he’s growing up, but apparently he didn’t ask for our approval. 😉

With school schedules and fall vendor events, things will look a little different around here. Preorders are the best way to snag your favorites and help us juggle it all. We’re grateful for your support as we balance farm, market, and school life! ☕🍎 Keep an eye here on our socials for updates on where we’ll be and what we’ll have each week.

It may feel like 105° out there 🥵 but we’re already dreaming of cool fall days! 🍂 Pumpkins are coming along, new flavors are bubbling up in the kitchen (pumpkin spice, apple & more 👀), and we’re knee-deep in event applications and supply orders. 🎃 Fall fun is on the way—and we can’t wait! ✨

What’s your favorite local fall event to look forward to? 🍁🎶🍎 Chances are you might just catch us there… and maybe snag a cookie (or two) while you’re at it. 😉

We had posted earlier this week that we’d be at Sedalia Area Farmers' Market Friday and that preorders were open… but plans have changed. It’s been a while since we’ve shared much about Rich’s health, and with so many new faces here, it feels like a good time to explain.

Rich was diagnosed with Lyme and other tick-borne illnesses in 2011. These flares can sneak up anytime — it’s truly a day-by-day (often hour-by-hour), thing — but August never fails to bring one. One day he’s at market chatting with you , the next he’s flat on the couch dealing with pain, fatigue, tremors, dizziness… the list goes on.

This Sunday will mark 14 years since his last day at the 26-year Ironworker career he loved. These illnesses changed everything. He doesn’t drive anymore, and life looks a whole lot different than we ever planned. There are sensory issues — sights, sounds, smells, movement, too much activity — plus food sensitivities and so much more. We plan just about everything around how it might affect his health.

With school starting next week, the girls are knee-deep in their own back-to-school prep, so tomorrow will be a rest day for him and a work-from-home day for me. If you see him in pictures or at market, that’s a “good day” snapshot. Today just isn’t one of those.

Take care of yourselves out there, and please… check for ticks. Preventing this is so much easier than living with it. ❤️

Midweek feed run to Ozark Organics — certified organic feed for our flock. Jaxson rode along before school starts next week, helping like a pro and picking up a few tricks along the way. Even popped the straps twice with a confident ‘That should work.’ (If you know, you know 😉) Straps stayed tight, too — he checked ’em every stop. We fit in a last-minute supply restock, lunch, and a stop at Taylor’s to check on her dogs. Not a bad Wednesday.

I even shut my phone off. 📵
We skipped Sedalia Area Farmers' Market.
And for a couple of days, we stepped away from the constant go-go-go.

We love our customers, and we know we had things in the works — potential orders, quotes, and messages waiting. But from April to the holidays, it’s seven days a week. Early mornings. Late nights. Always available. Markets, prepping, restocking, answering messages. Plus the office work — planning, list making, spreadsheets, websites, social media… and the list goes on. Add in Rich’s health challenges, and some days it’s just… a lot.

This past weekend was about rest. Quiet. Unplugging. No dings, no notifications, no pressure to answer right away. Even took time to do some reading. Even then, “time off” still meant planting fall crops and tackling a few farm jobs (because the work never really stops). But that slower pace was exactly what we needed.

Breaks like this remind us how important it is to slow down now and then. We’re grateful for the chance to recharge, for the life we live, and for the people we get to share it with. Blessed? Absolutely. Back at it? You bet — just maybe not quite ready to give up that slower pace. 😉 If we missed your message, send it again — we’re here and happy to catch up.

Friday was already market day, but we added a little extra bake time for a special order — 24 loaves of sweet bread, ordered by someone who wanted to treat the crew at the Missouri State Fair Fire Department. 🚒🍞

Eggs have been a little scarce lately… but that’s fixin’ to change 🐓🥚
Our young hens are just gettin’ started, which means their first eggs are Peewee and Small — and right now we’ve got more than we can use!

That pic? It’s the whole range of sizes our ladies can lay, but today we’re bringing:
🥚 Peewee – $1.50/dozen
🥚 Small – $2.00/dozen
🥚 Medium & Large – $4.50/dozen

All from pasture-raised hens, fed certified organic feed, and raised without medications — just sunshine, fresh air, and green grass.

Those Peewees and Smalls? Perfect for boilin’ — snack-size farm fresh goodness you can pop like candy.
Come see us downtown at market and stock up while they last! 🛒

Friday’s Sedalia Area Farmers' Market is getting a change of scenery! 🏙️ While the State Fair’s in town, we’re setting up downtown in the 600 block of South Ohio (right by Ozark Coffee).

We’ll have all your BYF favorites — fresh breads, bagels, cookies, pastured chicken and eggs.
Same friendly faces, just a different view. 🍪🥯🍞 See you downtown!
