Lawn Debris. It's important to make sure your lawn is clear of debris especially leaves. If leaves are not cleared timely it could lead to lawn damage or disease even in the office season.

Does Your Lawn Need “Winterizer W**d & Feed?” or Not?

Yes . . . and no. Lawn winterizers have high amounts of nitrogen and are created for fall and winter applications to cool season grasses. Bermuda doesn't need to be winterized!!

Too Much Nitrogen: Typically, winterizer fertilizers have too much nitrogen for warm season lawns, especially in the autumn. Next time you’re in the garden center, look at the fertilizer ratio on the winterizer bag and notice how it’s always high in nitrogen (the first number in the fertilizer ratio), such as a 32-0-10 ratio.

W**ding Tips:
The window for applying pre-emergent herbicide is closed for the autumn. The next window will open in February when the Forsythia bushes flower - we'll send out an email alert at that time. Now is the time for post-emergent herbicides for w**ds you can see now on all established lawns.

For w**ds you see now in established lawns, apply post-emergent liquid herbicides directly to the w**ds. (As always, read the herbicide label to make sure it's safe for your type of lawn and targets your particular w**ds, then carefully follow the application instructions.)

November Bermuda Lawn Tips for 2025

Get out your rake because leaves are gently tumbling from trees and piling up on lawns. Remove those pretty fall leaves from your warm-season lawn so they don't smother it. This time of year, I'm out there every few days blowing them off before many accumulate. It's a good way to get your steps in.

Fertilizing Tips:
Don't fertilize! Do not fertilize, topdress, or aerate warm-season lawns anytime in the fall; wait until spring. Let your lawn go dormant. High nitrogen promotes tender new growth that can be damaged by frosts, so don't use high nitrogen fertilizers and save yourself the fright.

Insect control is another essential item you need to have a healthy bermuda lawn. Check some of the big box stores for sales to stock up.

*W**ding Tips*
The window for applying pre-emergent herbicide is open beforethe soil temps drop below 70 degrees. Pre-emergent will prevent winter w**d seeds from rooting. It kills off the first root that comes out of the seed and you'll never see the rest of the w**d germinate. It's like magic!

👍 Rule of Thumb: Don't apply pre-emergent to new sod because it will also inhibit your new lawn from rooting. Apply it after one full growing season when your lawn is fully rooted in and you can no longer see the seams.

For w**ds you see now in established lawns, apply post-emergent liquid herbicides like W**d Stop for Lawns

👍 Rule of Thumb: It's okay to apply a post-emergent liquid herbicide after you've mowed your lawn
