Our Issues, Etc. Book of the Month is "Everyday Word: A Two-Year Bible Journal" by Todd A. Biermann

This Bible journal guides you through the entire Bible in just over two years, allowing you to add your own notes and reflections as you go. Make a personal Bible-reading journey a reality with help from Everyday Word: A Two-Year Bible Journal. By reading a short segment of Scripture every day, excluding Sundays, you’ll be able to read the entire Bible in just over two years, while adding your own notes and reflections as you go.

Everyday Word is a personal record of Christ’s wisdom and grace for real life in relationship to others that will be treasured for a lifetime and passed to the next generations as a priceless inheritance. The weekly guides, with fillable boxes, correspond to the two-year reading plan in The Lutheran Study Bible and provide guidance to understand the readings, apply them to life in the Christian congregation or family, and provide a place to record discoveries for return usage and passing on to family.

Our Issues, Etc. Book of the Month is "Looking Forward to Sunday Morning: Reflections on the Church Year" by Carl C. Fickenscher

How often do you think about the contents of upcoming weekly worship services and how they interconnect thematically? However rare or frequent this is, there is something to be learned, and certainly something to look forward to. This resource, based on Carl Fickenscher II’s fan-favorite radio show, walks you through the propers of each week of the three-year-lectionary (the Introit, Gradual, Collect, and so on), helping you prepare for worship and better understand its interconnected pieces. Doubling as a devotional and a study resource, Looking Forward to Sunday Morning is best enjoyed beside family, your Bible, and your hymnal, church year after church year.

You can purchase this book at the CPH website:

Looking Forward to Sunday Morning presents devotional and study content on the propers for the coming week of worship according to the three-year lectionary.

Our Issues, Etc. Sponsoring Congregation is Evangelical Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer, Peekskill, NY. We are a small congregation that worships in an intimate and well-appointed sanctuary. We are conservative and confessional: believing, teaching, and confessing the faith in accordance with Holy Scripture and the Lutheran confessions. We are historic and traditional: making use of the historic church year and lectionaries, and the classic liturgy and hymns of the Lutheran church found in The Lutheran Hymnal of 1941. Holy Communion is celebrated on the first, third, and fifth Sundays of each month, and on major festivals.

Rev. William P. Terjesen invites you to Sunday Services at 10:30 am. We have a Sunday School for the children of the congregation at 9:00 a.m. on Sundays, and Adult Bible Studies on Sundays at 9:15 a.m., and Wednesdays at 10:00 a.m.
