Colorado City Record

Colorado City Record Newspaper Office The Colorado City Record was founded in 1905 by the Kindred family, who promptly sold it to the Whipkey family. F.B. and A.L. Whipkey took over.

Whipkey operated the Record from 1905 until 1926, when W.W. The latter Whipkey sold it in 1948 to Pete Geller, who kept it for four years, selling it to Joe Bell in 1952. The Bell ownership lasted until Mac McKinnon took over in 1971. Today the newspaper is owned and published by Earl Plagens. Founded: 1905

Illegal dumping at the Community Mission has come to an end, as the City has notified them that it will cease. If you are caught illegally dumping, you will have the opportunity to collect your items and dispose of them properly at the City Landfill. Please do not leave items on the side of the road, in an alley, or in any of the dumpsters throughout town or in the park..

Just a reminder that the Fourth of July is coming up soon, please only enjoy the City's fireworks and do not use fireworks within the City Limits. It is as much for your safety as it is for others.

Another thing to remember is that we have quite a few Veterans with PTSD from their time in warzones from World War II through Vietnam. Each year personal fireworks cause many of them to return to the hells of these warzones mentally; sadly, when many of them came home the WAR WAS NEVER TRULY OVER and fireworks cause many of them to relapse remembering the terrors they witnessed and were participants of.

Hi, my research detective team, I am looking for photos of Frank Ginzel and Tull Ray Louder. I am working on a new exhibit proposal for our Heart of West Texas Museum. It will honor all the Mitchell County POW-MIA servicemembers and all the Purple Heart Servicemembers from Mitchell County.

Please, any adult photos will work. All I have at this point are headstones and military markers. You guys are the best, and I totally appreciate each and every one of you for helping me with my projects; without you, I would not have been able to run down leads and find information.

It seems neither the local newspaper nor the Sweetwater Report has any mention of the German Light Howitzer for Our Museum that suddenly went missing many years ago in their archives. On top of that, now one from the PDs was around the time it went missing and started a feud between our communities until it was brought home to Colorado City.

The media wants me to believe this is an urban legend... Who remembers this and can retell the story?
