Who are The Gnarly Dudes

The sordid history of the Gnarly Dudes begins with Tim and Mike being separated from each other shortly after birth. Both boys were abandoned when their young mother was tragically killed in a freak hockey accident. She got run over by the Zamboni during a St Louis Blues/Chicago Blackhawks game while trying to win a between-period puck-shooting contest. Despite the efforts of trainers from both teams, she succumbed to her injuries on the ice.

Because their father was lost at sea trying to navigate the Northwest Passage in bass boat, and no other relatives could be found, authorities weren’t sure what to do with the boys. Since the two NHL teams were in the middle of a home-and-home series, it was decided that they would become wards of two different states.

Mike was sent to an orphanage in Illinois and escaped as soon as he learned to walk. He was raised by a family of Sasquatches in the forest preserves outside of Chicago. Tim was handed over to a group of Missouri gypsies and literally grew up on the wrong side of the tracks in St. Louis.

The two brothers, not knowing the other existed, met by chance on the streets of Colorado Springs while staring through the windows of the Gnarly 101.3 studios. This serendipitous encounter lead to conversations about 80’s music and pop culture.
