Woah! Meta is working hard to disrupt what we know…some for the better, some maybe for the worse.

Over the past week, Instagram released two new features, maps and repost. You can turn off your location for maps (which I would personally suggest to do - Settings tab, “Stories, live and location”). This is intended to find nearby friends and feels very 2012 Snapchat.

But repost! Wow. Have we wanted that for ages. Now you can share a post from another profile to YOUR feed! Knowing Instagram, this repost stat will probably become a pretty important one, so keep in mind when creating your content, shareable content is I stage and favorite kind of content.

And lastly…not everyone is seeing this yet, but Facebook says it is shutting down community chats. This is another good reminder than social media is rented space. If you have a community chat, you may want to explore other options like WhatsApp or Discord. Will you just drop this feature in your groups?

Did you know, that the Co. in Pink Sheep Co. doesn’t really stand for Company? It has two meanings - Co is the first two letters in Pink Sheep Co.’s owner and founder name Colleen! And the second meaning is the state we call home, CO - beautiful Colorado.

While we are honored to serve small businesses and nonprofits in other parts of the United States, like Texas and D.C., it is always a pleasure to work with local companies right here in our community!

This year I’ve been training for the Pikes Peak Ascent…and as I started my morning on the Manitou Incline, there wasn’t much to do except think.

So, what am I thinking about? How my work is a lot like my training. Social media is about strategy, testing, analysis, and showing up. Both demand intention, consistency, and doing what works for YOU! The way my best friend trains for races doesn’t work for me…she’s an elite runner, I’m not. And the way I run my social media pages may not work for you and your audience.

Once you figure out what works for you, you’re going to conquer that mountain. Literal mountain or figurative mountain. (Oh and that “millennial pose” - it’s not going anywhere, so stop trying 😂)

What do index cards and Instagram have in common?

Not a whole lot actually...BUT! You may have heard that Instagram content is now being indexed by search engines. And unless you work in the digital world, that may sound like a whole other language. So, let me break it down for you.

If you have a professional Instagram (meaning not a personal account) and it is public facing, and you are over 18 years old...your Instagram content can now be found by the likes of Google.

To quote Unicorse from Bluey..."Aaaaaannnd why should I care?" You should care because this can help your business be found with more ease on Google! To maximize this change, be sure to be thoughtful and strategic with your captions. More and more we are seeing SEO and social media blend together. Do not just dump a bunch of keywords (or hashtags) in your posts. Be genuine, authentic, and true to your brand and what you offer.

Now that I have given you something to mull over this weekend, have a great weekend, don't work too hard, and let this change sit in the back of your brain where you can come up with some amazing ideas to help your business be found!
