The Second Wave of civilization and its industrial powers worked hard to set up a global network that grew and incorporated the world market. The more business traveled outside national borders it became part of a larger global marketplace, part of the distinct, integrated commerce system imagined by the integrational elites running Second Wave civilization. A particular network of money was constructed around the world.

The Second Wave's all consuming hunger for resources.
