🌙 When God Feels Far (But He Isn’t)

Ever have a day where life feels overwhelming…
and you quietly wonder, “God, where are You in all of this?”

I’ve had a few days like that lately — days where I’ve felt like a castaway hanging onto driftwood in a rising storm. Not dramatic… just honest.

But Psalm 77 reminds us of something powerful:

The antidote to fear is remembering.

The psalmist asks,
“Has God forgotten to be gracious?”
And then he chooses to remember God’s wonders and faithfulness.

Israel felt lost too.
God still led them — even when they couldn’t see Him.
And even when they reached the Promised Land… they still had to fight for what God promised.

Lately I’ve been learning the same thing:
If something matters, you may have to fight for it.

One way to discover your calling is to ask:
What makes you truly happy?
What lights you up?

For me, that spark has always been writing — since I was 10 years old.

Last night I watched part of the J.K. Rowling biopic, and her story hit me deeply.
She went through heartbreak, poverty, and rejection…
but she never stopped writing.
She fought for the thing God placed inside her.

And everything changed because she didn’t give up.

So today — if life feels confusing, or the road feels long — remember this:

God hasn’t forgotten you.
He is leading you even when the path feels dark.
Remember His faithfulness.
And don’t give up on the calling He planted in you.

🛡️ This Week’s Challenge

Pick one:
• Remember a time God helped you
• Learn about someone who made a comeback
• Pay attention to what makes you happy — it may be part of your calling

You’re not alone.
He is with you — guiding, leading, and reminding you of who you are. 🌿

🌟 What if your family didn’t have to rely on jobs, but instead created multiple streams of income together? 🌟

That’s the power of a family economy! 🚀

A family economy isn’t just about chores or allowances—it’s about:
đź’ˇ Turning your passions and callings into income
đź’ˇ Educating young people to become entrepreneurs
đź’ˇ Running a family business with all members involved
đź’ˇ Becoming financially independent instead of job-dependent

Your kids don’t have to wait until adulthood to learn how to earn, invest, and create their own income. Families who build businesses together develop stronger bonds, lasting financial wisdom, and a legacy of success.

🔥 Want to start your family economy but don’t know where to begin? I’ve created a step-by-step guide and business journal to help you launch a viable business from the ground up!

Why You Need Roleplay in Your Homeschool

One of the most surprising things I’ve discovered over the years—both in our homeschool and in my LARPing program—is how transformational roleplay truly is.

When kids step into a character or scenario, everything changes. Imagination wakes up. Confidence grows. Problem-solving kicks in. They learn to think on their feet, work as a team, and communicate in a way worksheets simply can’t teach. Roleplay isn’t “just pretend.”
It’s practice for real life.

But here’s something we don’t talk about enough:
Roleplay is powerful for adults, too.

We roleplay all the time without even noticing—practicing for job interviews, preparing for hard conversations, rehearsing business presentations, imagining how we’ll handle a new situation, or trying out different approaches in parenting. Professionals use roleplay to sharpen communication and leadership. Coaches use it to build confidence. Parents use it to teach safety and emotional regulation.
The same creativity, confidence, and strategic thinking it builds in kids… it builds in us, too.

That’s why I’m such a believer in creative, immersive learning.
It strengthens your homeschool, your family, and even your own personal growth.

I was a reluctant homeschooler.

We had sent our son Sam to a private Christian school from preschool through first grade. I thought I couldn’t be a good homeschool mom because I didn’t think I could get him to do what I needed him to do.

But school was hard. The only thing that worked for him was movement phonics, art, and PE. Well, and lunch and recess. Everything else—especially in first grade—just didn’t fit. Worksheet after worksheet. And when he couldn't get the worksheets done he'd have to skip recess and go to the principal's office.

Later I found out Sam had dysgraphia—a neurological disconnect between his hand and brain. It wasn’t “behavior.” He was a round peg being forced into a square hole. The stress was so bad it caused physical symptoms.

A chiropractor helped him, and when the doctor said, “It’s stress,” I asked, Should I homeschool him?

He said, “Yes.”

The last straw came when the class took the Iowa Skills Test. In first grade. The teacher never told me. When the results came, she was angry and shamed both my son and me.

That was the moment I knew: this wasn’t the environment where he could thrive.

With the encouragement of a friend, I realized that homeschooling—combined with my business endeavors—could give us the freedom we both needed.

Sam finished the year, and on the last day, my husband Travis “whisked him away.” We never looked back.

We never even got his grades. We didn’t care. We knew we were choosing peace over pressure—and that was enough.

❤️ That’s why I create “out of the box” resources for kids like Sam—because school isn’t one-size-fits-all.

“The Oil of Gladness” (Isaiah 61:3)

There have been seasons when I’ve felt utterly lost—like I was wandering in a wilderness with no way out. Other times, it’s felt like being trapped in a POW camp, stuck with no hope of escape. Sometimes it’s been like sitting in a ditch, abandoned and broken.

Lately, it’s felt like we’ve been in an airplane and the engines stalled midair… falling fast, bracing for impact.

Life has been heavy. It’s been extremely difficult. And honestly, I haven’t had much joy.

But through it all, I refused to give up. I kept pushing forward, praying, creating, doing the next right thing even when I couldn’t see the outcome.

And this last week—something shifted. I found myself working on a project, pouring my heart into it, and when I finished… I realized I’d found something precious.

The oil of gladness Isaiah 61:3 talks about. đź’›

“To give them beauty for ashes,
the oil of joy for mourning,
the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness…”

That joy I thought was gone forever? It came back. The missing key I’d been searching for for years clicked into place, and suddenly everything started to make sense.

This week reminded me that God does bring beauty from ashes. He does restore joy to those who keep walking when it would be easier to quit.

If you’ve been feeling stuck or heavy, please don’t give up. The same God who lifted me can lift you, too. 🌤️
