I am so damn tired of watching people worship a government that would never hesitate to sacrifice them. Our government is not a damn hospice; yet here we are wheeling around old men and women who cannot form a single thought and even if they could their minds are STUCK in how things were 70 years ago.

Our nation is not a dying thing we are supposed to sit beside, hold its hand and make excuses for while it falls apart around us!! Remember when a tan suit was enough to send people into a meltdown because a president of color wore one? A TAN SUIT. The outrage machine was alive and well over fabric choices while actual accountability is apparently too much to ask for.

Now we are watching people defend things they would have lost their minds over years ago. We are watching power go unchecked, people being told what to think, what to say, how to vote, and watching the people in charge protect themselves instead of the people they are supposed to serve. Those of us with common sense are now forced to watch ordinary people that we love make excuse after excuse for a government that does not know them, does not love them, and does not care about them. You hang on every word. You defend every action. You scream at your neighbors and family to protect a system that would throw you under the bus without blinking if it meant protecting someone with more power!!! You think they would sacrifice their comfort for yours? They would sacrifice you for a free tank of gas for their private jet. The government is not your family. It is not your savior. It is supposed to be a tool of the people. When that tool stops working, we don’t worship it. We demand accountability.

Mother Nature has always spoken; through rivers carving valleys. Through forests reaching for the sky. Through glaciers that have held the memory of mountains for thousands of years.
But we have become so consumed with conquering, consuming, and chasing more that we have forgotten we are only a small part of something much greater.

The earth is not ours to own. It is something we were entrusted to protect. When the glaciers fall, when the rivers rise, when the land cries out, it is not the earth seeking revenge. It is the earth responding. May we learn to listen before there is nothing left but echoes.

For Nepal. For the mountains. For the lives lost.

I am angry. I am angry watching racism be excused, softened, ignored, and defended because acknowledging it would require people to confront something ugly. The history behind this is not something to debate away. It is not something to dismiss because it makes people uncomfortable. This is a history of terror, lynching, intimidation and violence used against Black communities to create fear and enforce hatred. And if that makes you uncomfortable, GOOD. Some things should.

The Black community welcomed me during a period in my life when my own family made me feel unwanted. They gave me acceptance when I desperately needed it. They showed me kindness I will never forget. That welcome was a gift. It also came with a responsibility. I will not take that love, that acceptance, that community; then stay silent when the same people who gave it to me are being targeted, dehumanized, or harmed.

If you believe racism is something to ignore, excuse, or “move past” without accountability, then we do not stand on the same side. If this sticker offends you more than the history behind it, then this page may not be for you.
Silence has protected the wrong people for far too long.

Inside Delaney Hall, atrocities are happening.
Not debates. Not discourse. Not “engagement.”

Humans. Straining. Breaking. Real.
And the walls don’t answer.
They just hold.
And outside…
they’ve labeled it.

A “designated freedom of speech zone.”

I can’t say it without feeling something twist.
Freedom. Designated.

As if liberty needs an address.
As if a right can be scheduled, sectioned, contained like it only exists when someone in authority points to the floor and says:

Here.
Speak here.
Not there.
Never there.
Only where we can measure it.
Only where we can watch it.
Only where it can be ignored later
without inconvenience.

Inside, people are crying out.
Still trying to be heard through systems built not to hear them. And outside, they’ve built a square around that sound and called it democracy.

labeling of the silence as freedom.

A cage with signage.
A boundary with branding.
A violation with good lighting and official wording.

And people repeat it like it makes sense:
It’s their free speech zone.
As if freedom can be zoned.

As if rights come with fences now.
I watch it and I can’t decide what’s worse
what’s happening inside those walls,
or how quickly the outside learns to justify them.

It’s for safety.
It’s for order.
It’s allowed.
Allowed.

That word should terrify us more than it does.
Because nothing about a right should need permission to exist in the first place.

And yet here it is…
a designated space for freedom
as if freedom is a visiting privilege
instead of something inherent,
instead of something that belongs to every voice even when it shakes, even when it disrupts, even when it refuses to be neat.
I look at that square and I don’t see order.

I see containment.
I see language used like a soft cloth
over something deeply wrong so no one has to feel it too sharply. But I feel it.
And I won’t call it anything gentler
just because the sign says I should.

It worked because it’s authentic and branding isn’t always rocket science.

Sometimes it’s just showing up consistently, staying rooted in your voice and trusting the brand you’ve already built. Authenticity does more heavy lifting than most people realize.

If you’re observing Memorial Day today, I want to gently encourage you to take a moment to thank a person of color; not just for their service, but for the often overlooked and deeply rooted history connected to this day.

Many people don’t realize that Memorial Day began as Decoration Day after the Civil War. One of the earliest recorded observances was organized by formerly enslaved Black Americans in 1865 in Charleston, South Carolina. They gathered to honor Union soldiers who had died fighting for freedom; decorating their graves with flowers, singing and holding a procession.

Later, the tradition spread, and places like Waterloo, New York were officially recognized for helping formalize the holiday we now know as Memorial Day.

This day isn’t just about long weekends or barbecues, it’s rooted in remembrance, sacrifice and the fight for freedom. That history includes the voices and actions of Black Americans whose contributions are too often left out of the story.

And now, many decades later, it’s worth reflecting on how Black and Brown communities are still often fighting disproportionately for rights and opportunities that their white counterparts more commonly receive by default. Remembering the past should also challenge us to be more aware of the present.

So today, remember with intention. Honor fully. And if you can, express gratitude because history is deeper than what we were taught.
