Whoa! That's with a B! Phil Knight, co-founder of Nike, and his wife, Penny Knight, have pledged $2 Billion to the cancer research center at Oregon Health & Science University, marking the largest single donation to a university in the United States. The donation aims to expand diagnostic capabilities, enhance clinical trials access, and simplify patient experiences. The Knights have a history of philanthropy, previously donating $100 million to the university's cancer institute in 2008 and initiating a $500 million cancer challenge in 2013. Their contributions have led to advancements in early cancer detection and targeted therapies.

Smells like a campfire out there! Smoky conditions exist today along the front range. Seven Colorado Springs firefighters have been deployed to help battle wildfires in western Colorado, including the Turner Gulch fire in Mesa County, which has burned nearly 29,000 acres. Another crew is assisting with the Lee and Elk fires in Rio Blanco County, which have burned over 130,000 acres combined. The firefighters are providing structural protection, safeguarding livestock, and serving as initial attack teams on new fires in the area. The deployments are expected to last two weeks, and firefighting services in Colorado Springs are not affected.
