This album of remixes of I'm Afraid of Americans was just a lucky find at one day. They were more than fair priced for what is now one of the more valuable albums in my collection. Being raised in the 80s was regularly played around me. A mix up of him and was just what I could always dream of. Wish I could have seen their tour.

Shirley Manson and the guys in slay it again. I'm a little late to the party as my signed copy was delayed a bit so this is my first listen.

First off, the packaging design and pressing are all fabulously done. I've never seen a pearlescent album and I'm not disappointed

As for the tunes. F**k. This album just straight kicks my ass

Today's is Garbage - Let All That We Imagine Be The Light. It's bringing the light to my day just as their debut album did 30 years ago. I was a fan and even sent fan mail then. Still doing it all these years later.

Thanks ya'll for all the awesome music. Where is my vinyl remaster of Not Your Kind of People? That's the one I don't have on wax yet.

Saw the Lords of Acid at the Oriental Theater in Denver last night. Was a good time. I really wish they'd have busted out Techno Syndrome and stopped hiding the fact that the Immortals were just Lords of Acid under a different name.

This Stan Getz and Joao Gilberto gem came out in 1964. To me it's the kind of music you dance in the kitchen with your lover to, while making a delicious dinner. I'm single and it's not even noon, so I'll dance alone in my room with a joint.

Either way, if you've never heard of I would highly recommend making this jazzy classic your record of the evening as it's my

Today I chose 333 as today's . Though I had heard and seen the video of their Three Little Pigs song before the band was unheard of in my circles. But I found 333 in a used bin somewhere on cassette in my teens and thought it was super awesome that one of the songs on it was in the Spiderman game Maximum Carnage on the SNES.

This copy I got to relive my youth and enjoy their wacky satirical style of rock.

Always a gamer at heart.

The magically silky smooth sounds of 's Bewilderment is today's

I came across Pale Jay in the last few months and literally cannot stop listening to him. Under the Magnolia Tree from his debut EP is a standout and will likely be my most played song of the year at this rate.

Bewilderment is his second effort and is just wonderful from start to finish. If you need some funky soul music to drive your day, you can't go wrong with Pale Jay.

Hey there, episode 2 of the current season of Back to the Basics will be live on YouTube this evening at 5:00pm MDT. It's two parts, about 4 hours. Great listening when you're in the car driving. Part 2 of the episode goes live a few minutes after 7pm so if you're listening live it'll be there.

This sweet Japanese pressing of The Live Adventures of Mike Bloomfield and Al Kooper may be missing the original obi strip that it would have had when pressed, it does have super clean liner notes now kept in archival sleeves. It's today's

Recorded in 1968 this live album brought some of the greatest minds of rock and roll at the time together at the Fillmore West in San Francisco. Bloomfield was famously an insomniac at the time and wasn't able to make it to the second night of the show. Amongst other people, a young Carlos Santana hit the stage in place of Mike. Al Kooper was a member of Blood Sweat and Tears and had his hands in some of the best albums of the 60s and 70s as either producer or playing organ in the band.

Some thirty years ago I made the foolish mistake of being caught at the park next to my high school smoking pot. After following that up with a series of other stupid teenage decisions, I came home to a very angry father.

He didn't yell, which honestly was more frightening than if he had. At the end of a long lecture and interrogation my father told me to give him the envelope from under his stereo. My heart sunk, for I knew there was only one he kept there.

Concert tickets.

Inside the envelope was tickets to The Smashing Pumpkins at McNichols Arena in Denver, touring on the Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness tour. Opening for the Pumpkins, was Garbage , a band I had recently discovered on MTV and was enamored with.

Those tickets were torn up before my heartbroken eyes. I never did get to see the Pumpkins, and honestly don't want to anymore. But Garbage. F**k. I've always wanted to see them, I still buy every album they put out and have a signed pre-order for their newest one. Less than a month for that now and tickets are on sale to see them in October I believe.

I'll be there.

Today's is Garbage's third album Beautiful Garbage. A wonderful piece where the band really started showing they were a lasting force and weren't going anywhere.

A little about me...

I'm a second generation record collector. All through my life my father had a literal wall of over 4000 records that moved with us everywhere we lived.

He's gone now, and the weight of those records was a physical and emotional weight I could not take. Unfortunately they're gone now and I collect on my own. One thing of note though, when Dad was digging through crates and an he was curious about an album, one thing he would look at is what label released it. Certain labels tend to certain types of music. Back in the day the BoDeans were on Slash records, and I remember my dad looking at albums from that label because he tended to enjoy them.

I find myself doing the same now. Beggars Banquet has post-punk goth bands, Cold Busted has chill beats.

Today's Record of the Day is Outside Looking In by the band BoDeans. Most people would know them as the band that did the theme to the 90s tv show Party of Five which was called 'Closer to Free.' To me they were a regular play in my house. My dad was a fan and had all of their albums up into the mid 90s.

When I came across this copy, it was still sealed though it had a discount cut in the bottom. I bought it on pure nostalgia alone. I'm glad I did. It took me down the road of good memories. I remember seeing the BoDeans once in Winter Park, CO. That was in 1991 or 92 if I remember correctly.

Gawd I'm old, but this is a good album.
