Keep it or lose it! A simple game to practice correct letter formation. We play this with each letter once we have taught the handwriting. Try it with your class!

Making Applesauce for Apple Week! 🍏🍎

Every year we make applesauce with our preschoolers! It is a fun activity and a yummy snack! It does require some special prep and tools.

We use a tomato press but there are applesauce makers.

Steps:
1. Cut a bag of apples 6-8 total into quarters and boil for 20 minutes or until the apples are very soft.
2. We usually let the apples cool and refrigerate them over night but you can make the applesauce when they are warm. You will just have warm applesauce!
3. Scoop the apples into the top of the press and crank. The press separates the applesauce from all the other parts of the apple (stem, seeds and skin).
4. We add sugar and cinnamon to flavor our applesauce!
5. Enjoy!!!

Name Recognition practice for preschoolers!

At the start of the school year, one of our biggest goals is for our preschoolers to recognize their name and be able to find it. This activity is great for small groups or centers.

Using chart paper, write students names randomly on the paper. We like to put each students name 5-6 times and typically have 4-6 students per group.

Students take turns finding their name and each time they complete a different task. Here are some ideas we like to use:

💚 put a sticker on your name
💜 stamp your name
🧡 using a bingo dotter stamp each letter in your name
💙 circle your name with a marker
🖤 trace your name with a highlighter or pencil
❤️ underline your name
