When I was a kid, w**d was a dirty word. 😇

Even though my own parents did their fair share of smoking cannabis💨, they were seriously opposed to me “inhaling” the ‘devil’s lettuce' 🥬.

Looking back on my first experience with w**d, it makes sense that I was terrified.

I grew up in a small town and had no context for it, besides what my parents had given me.

But after a few times of hanging out with some good friends, I decided to see what all the fuss was about.

Then… it happened.

I inhaled! **gasp**🤯

My first thought was… THIS is what it’s all about?

I was blown away by how MILD cannabis could be.

All of the hype and I simply felt…more relaxed?

I wouldn’t say I was disappointed.

But I couldn’t help but feel resentful that I had been sold a lie about a harmless plant.

Advocating for legalization and decriminalization for cannabis has been a strong passion of mine ever since that first experience.

Have you heard of buyers personas?

As a writer, it's a key factor I use to develop content. If you don't understand your audience, what they like, what their pain points are, what they need to feel happy, then how can you target them?

Experts recommend getting a good handle of the type of person you're targeting. Right down to their hobbies and pastimes. Why?

Because digital marketing (or any marketing for that matter) is becoming ever more personalized. Facebook's algorithms, Google's search results, and the ads you see when you visit websites are all targeted to your interests.

Gary Vaynerchuk (entrepreneur extraordinaire) tells us to NEVER sell the unsellable. The unsellable are people who don't have any interest in what you're selling or offering.

Value. It determines the price we pay for that which we desire. And we don't always pay it in cold hard cash. In fact, most of the time we pay for it in the time we devote to certain tasks, conversations, and even time spent reading.

But what about your value?

Believe it or not, you don't determine your own value, especially in the marketplace. Your customers do.

Sure, you can charge the highest rates possible, but that doesn't mean someone will pay it.

You create value by what you give.

Picture your grandmother for a moment, and if you're like me and didn't know her imagine another treasured member of your family.

No, she couldn't tell you what stocks to invest in, what product will make it big this year, or even explain how Facebook works. But what she did give you was sound advice, maybe a delicious cookie recipe, or maybe she simply lifted your spirits when you were down.

She gave from her heart and loved you. That's what made her valuable to you.

As a business, entrepreneur, or individual you can do exactly what your grandma did. You can bring value through generosity.

Nurture your customers and show them how much they mean to you by adding real value to their life.

One of the easiest ways to do this is through content. Communicate. Understand their pain points. Then give them information that's written specifically for them. And just like that, your value increases.
