Kenn Ricci says OEMs withholding wiring diagrams is against the law. He's not wrong about the rule.

14 CFR 21.50(b) requires type certificate holders to furnish complete Instructions for Continued Airworthiness to every owner — and make them available to anyone required to comply with them. Wiring diagrams are explicitly named in FAA guidance on what ICA must contain. For transport-category jets, 25.1729 and Appendix H go further and mandate FAA-approved ICA for the entire electrical wiring interconnection system.

The catch: the rule says "furnish" and "make available." It never says at what price, in what format, or how fast. That's the gap — and why ASA and ARSA have been asking the FAA to step in.

The lesson for private flyers? A famous spokesperson, major sponsorships and expensive advertising may make a company feel established — but none of those things protect the money you’ve prepaid for future flights.

Before putting six figures into any jet card or membership, understand where your money is held, whether it’s refundable, and what happens to your balance if the company can’t fly you.
