“UNDERESTIMATED” runs deeper than a creative pursuit—it’s personal. I’ve spent years telling stories that amplify voices too often overlooked, with a special focus on high school football programs fighting for relevance, respect, and resources. As a Columbia, South Carolina native and a filmmaker rooted in this community, I understand the heartbeat of Lower Richland.

I know the roads these players travel, the weight of representing their neighborhoods, and the pride of wearing their school’s colors when the world doubts them.

The themes of resilience, faith, and transformation aren’t abstract to me—they mirror my own journey as an artist building a career without a network deal, relying on grit, relationships, and vision to create high-caliber work. I see myself in these young athletes: underestimated, but unwilling to shrink.

Episode I: COMPETE
UNDERESTIMATED: A Lower Richland Football Story

Episode I marks the beginning of a new era for Lower Richland Football—a season fueled by redemption, unity, and a promise to never be underestimated again. The story opens at the close of spring practice, where Coach Taylor and his staff set the tone for what’s to come: everything earned, nothing given.

Over the first three weeks of summer, we follow the Diamond Hornets through grueling workouts that test every ounce of their strength and character. Inside the weight room, iron clashes and voices rise as players push each other past their limits. Outside, the field becomes a proving ground—sun blazing, sweat pouring, no excuses. Every sprint, every rep, every drill is designed to forge not just better athletes, but stronger men committed to a shared purpose.

Coach Taylor’s message is clear: Compete—in everything. Compete in the classroom, in the locker room, in life. Compete for your brother next to you. Through his leadership, and the unrelenting drive of his coaching staff, the team begins to find its rhythm, its identity, and its edge.

As June closes, all eyes turn to the big test: the 7-on-7 tournament at the University of South Carolina. It’s more than a showcase—it’s the first chance to prove that the work, the pain, and the commitment mean something. The journey to earn respect has officially begun.

It all starts up front.

Every big play you see on Friday nights—whether it’s a touchdown run, a perfect pass, or a game-changing stop—starts with the men in the trenches. The offensive and defensive lines are the heartbeat of our team. They don’t always get the spotlight, but they set the tone for everything we do.

At Lower Richland, they’re not always the biggest on the field. They don’t always tower over the competition. But size has never defined us. What defines us is effort, discipline, and the relentless will to outwork the man across from us. Every practice rep, every lift in the weight room, every film session—they put in the kind of work that defies the odds.

This video is a glimpse into that grind. It’s not glamorous. It’s not easy. But it’s real. These are the players who push through the sweat, the fatigue, and the noise so that the team can succeed.

When you see our linemen fire off the ball, hold the line, and fight for every inch, know this: that’s the foundation of our program. That’s where championships are built.

They may be underestimated, but we will never be outworked.

What we are trying to achieve with this project is simple, The goal isn’t about wealth or fame for us. It’s about making a positive impact on their lives. It’s about creating a legacy for them that no else can, by telling their story in a way that makes them know “we believe in you” giving these young men something permanent that says: we were here — and we mattered."
