Howard County Police, along with County Executive Calvin Ball and the U.S. Marshals Service, have announced the arrest of 18-year-old William Marshall III, the suspect in the July 2024 shooting death of Angelo Little inside the Mall in Columbia.
Marshall was located and arrested without incident early the morning of May 29 in a Brooklyn, New York residence. The arrest followed a breakthrough in the investigation when a video posted on social media pointed authorities to Marshall’s possible location.
Marshall, who also goes by “Junior,” is currently in custody in New York and will be extradited to Maryland. He faces charges in Howard County of first-degree murder and fi****ms violations in connection to the July 27 killing of 17-year-old Angelo Little. Police believe the two knew each other and are continuing to investigate the motive.
The operation that led to Marshall’s arrest was the result of a 10-month effort involving Howard County detectives, the U.S. Marshals Service, and the NYPD. Over that time, authorities reviewed hundreds of tips, hours of surveillance footage, and traveled across several states in pursuit of the suspect.
“This was a collaborative effort with months of diligence, long nights, and communication,” said County Executive Ball. “Our hard work has led to the arrest of William Marshall. We remain committed to ensuring accountability and public safety.”
Officials are now investigating whether others helped Marshall evade capture and whether additional criminal charges are warranted. They are also reviewing eligibility for a combined reward of up to $30,000 offered by HCPD and the U.S. Marshals.
“This arrest is the result of intensive investigative man hours,” said Deputy Commander John Wormley of the U.S. Marshals Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force. “We could not be as effective as we are without partner agencies like HCPD.”
