We were honored to attend the American Red Cross National Capital & Greater Chesapeake (NCGC) Region Sickle Cell Luncheon at the national headquarters in D.C. celebrating Sickle Cell Warriors and recognizing individuals and organizations making an impact through blood drives and lifesaving donations. ❤️
The Partnering with Purpose theme was especially meaningful. Christina proudly serves on the Board of Directors of the American Red Cross Montgomery, Howard and Frederick Counties Chapter, Eddie has been a dedicated blood donor for 26 years, and blood donations helped save Christina’s life during a complicated surgery in 2023.🩸❤️💉
The event also featured remarks from Ernie Drew Jenkins, grandson of the legendary Dr. Charles Drew, who spoke on the importance of blood donations and the impact they continue to have on saving lives.
We were honored to spend time with these heroes and my fellow Red Cross NCGC Board leadership: Lenora Henry,American Red Cross Executive Director, Baltimore Chapter and Tonya Anderson, American Red Cross Board Member of the Southern Maryland Chapter
Also, we had the honor to see the newest
portrait at American Red Cross neadquarters in Washington D.C. of Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune, a prominent Black educator, civi rights activist, and stateswoman who played a crucial role in expanding opportunities for African Americans at the Red Cross
