Attendees at the third annual Main Street Summit filled venues across downtown Columbia from Tuesday through Thursday to hear from a diverse lineup of business leaders, investors and entrepreneurs addressing themes ranging from risk to recruiting to family. Brent Beshore, founder of the Columbia private equity firm that runs the Main Street Summit, also invited speakers to give the audience a unique experience, including Missouri Gov. Lambda, a company devoted to providing hardware and software services for artificial intelligence, recently announced it would turn an unused facility in Kansas City into a “state-of-the-art” AI factory, a plan celebrated by Gov. Net farm income in Missouri is expected to increase by 58% from last year, according to a new report. Missouri Business Alert spoke with Danyelle Chin, a research consultant for the University of Missouri’s Rural and Farm Finance Policy Analysis Center, about the factors driving the income projections and how farmers can be prepared.

The Beige Book report released last month showed little change in economic activity in the U.S. In Missouri, most districts saw either no change or a slight downturn in economic growth due to factors like immigration policies, agricultural conditions and employment levels.
