Newspapers In Education - Columbia Daily Tribune

Newspapers In Education - Columbia Daily Tribune Tribune In Education program (TIE) places over 4,500 newspapers into the hands of area students each week.

These are provided to area teachers at no charge thanks to the donations and contributions from area businesses and private citizens. Providing the Tribune to area educators gives them an excellent, multi-disciplinary supplement to formal textbook lessons. Newspapers in the classroom stimulate interest and help to explain today's fast-changing world, while broadening students knowledge of local an

d world events and the people who shape them. In addition, teachers are supplied with curriculum guides and a number of special projects throughout the school year. These projects are aimed at helping Mid-Missouri students improve their reading, mathematics, and critical thinking skills. In a study published by the Newspaper Association of America Foundation, students in schools with at least some NIE (Newspaper in Education) programs did 10% better than students that had no NIE program.

It works the same with newspapers.
Parents, grandparents and teachers reading PRINTED newspapers are the key to the circle of readership. When kids see adults on phones, tablets and computers, they don't know what they are doing -- remind adults to be role model readers!
