Carl R. Shirley writes, "In 1958, at the beginning of the South Carolina Experiment in Closed Circuit Television, there was a need for someone to coordinate the details—records, written communication, payroll and purchases, answering the phone and so forth. The woman here with Henry Cauthen is Phyllis Fleischel. She performed that important role for the beginning of the current SCETV network. After leaving, she was for many years an instructor of English at the University of SC". Carl went from South Carolina ETV's early years to a full career as a PhD teaching Spanish at the university.
