* Tornado Watch for portions of West-Central and Southern Illinois Southern into Central and Eastern Missouri

* Effective this Monday night and Tuesday morning from 825 PM until 300 AM CDT.

* Primary threats include... A few tornadoes likely with a couple intense tornadoes possible Widespread damaging winds likely with isolated significant gusts to 80 mph possible Scattered large hail and isolated very large hail events to 2 inches in diameter possible

Tornado Warning for... West Central Monroe County in southwestern Illinois... Central Jefferson County in east central Missouri...

* Until 845 PM CDT.

* At 800 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located over Olympian Village, or 7 miles south of Festus, moving northeast at 20 mph.

HAZARD...Tornado and quarter size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated rotation.

* Tornado Watch for portions of
Eastern Kansas
Western Missouri

* Effective this Monday afternoon and evening from 140 PM until
900 PM CDT.

* Primary threats include...
A few tornadoes and a couple intense tornadoes likely
Widespread large hail and scattered very large hail events to 3
inches in diameter likely
Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph likely

SUMMARY...Thunderstorms will develop and intensify across the watch
area through the afternoon and early evening. Scattered severe
storms including a few supercells are expected, capable of very
large hail, damaging winds, and a few tornadoes.

The tornado watch area is approximately along and 90 statute miles
east and west of a line from 35 miles north of Saint Joseph MO to 50
miles south southwest of Chanute KS. For a complete depiction of the

Probability of Watch Issuance...95 percent

SUMMARY...Widely scattered thunderstorms will pose a risk for a few
tornadoes (a couple strong), large to very large hail (up to 3 inch
diameter), and isolated damaging gusts through evening. A tornado
watch will likely be needed for portions of the discussion area from
central Iowa into northeast Kansas.

What: Storms are possible this evening in the western part of Missouri including Kansas City. All modes are severe weather are possible, IF the cap breaks. The Cap is warm and dryer air aloft that can sometimes prevent storms from forming. If the cap breaks however significant large hail and potentially a strong tornado are all possible.

When: It’s gonna take a while for the cap to break so I anticipate if anything happens it will be after or during the evening commute. How especially start being concerned anytime after 5pm.

Severe weather is expected to affect the region Monday and again on Tuesday this coming week. Monday is “the day” to watch though. Storm prediction center has put out some pretty strong wording already. It’s definitely something to keep both eyes on.

“The wind profile supports supercells capable of all severe weather hazards including the potential for strong tornadoes.”
