The “Pumpkin Lady” is a beloved figure in the Neptune, Ohio, community. 🎃 There, Karen Elshoff is known for her roadside farm stand that is busting at the seams with hand-painted pumpkins this time of year. For Karen, pumpkin painting began as a childhood hobby but has now turned into a family business with her husband, daughters, and sons-in-law. 🎨🖌️

On November 14, 1935, nearly 500 people watched as a wooden pole was set into the ground in Piqua, Ohio. To most of the city-living population in Piqua (and everywhere else in the country), it was just another utility pole. But in reality, this was the very first electric cooperative-owned pole, and its setting marked a revolutionary moment for farmers and rural dwellers across the nation who remained in the dark.

This National Co-op Month, read about the beginnings of the electric cooperative movement and its roots right here in Ohio 👉 https://bit.ly/42ORvhu.

Almost four years ago, a hacker using ransomware took down nearly the entire computer network at an electric cooperative in Colorado. Although the co-op was able to keep electricity flowing to members, it took months for them co-op to rebuild its network from the ground up and it struggled with basic functions, like billing.

This Cybersecurity Awareness Month, learn about the importance of protecting your computer and digital systems from Ohio's Electric Cooperatives Executive Director of IT, Greg Niese ➡️ http://bit.ly/42XmR5B. 🌐🔒
