They may not pay electric bills or vote in trustee elections, but even the youngest members are important to electric co-ops. The “Cat & Duck” series of children’s books, for example, were written and illustrated by an electric co-op employee in Missouri who had a goal of taking his co-op’s message to local classrooms. 🐱🦆 Today, Patrick Wood’s books have been used by co-ops in 33 states, including right here in Ohio 👉 https://bit.ly/4gmkXmb.

✈️ Ever wondered why Ohio’s landscape looks like a giant checkerboard from 35,000 feet? The answer lies in one of America’s greatest innovations — the Public Lands Survey, born in Ohio in 1785.

Thomas Jefferson’s vision for land ownership, education, and westward expansion shaped the grid of townships and sections that still define our roads, farms, and communities today. From the “Point of Beginning” in East Liverpool to one room schoolhouses on Section 16 corners, the survey left a legacy you can still see across the Buckeye State.
