Sometimes we are reminded of where we are. Those who sacrificed themselves for something better than what they had. It may bring us to tears, anger, or worse. We can become selfish and start to reflect on ourselves or even turn it outward to others. I was reading how some are talking about people grilling and drink ing and how Memorial Day isn't about that. That's it's not abou the parades and how it's not about the celebration.....Well, I can tell you that's exactly what it is about. All warrior cultures celebrate their dead. They honor them with sad and victorious cheer. They feast and drink themselves full. Just like as if our men were alive. Our friends, our brethren they'd not want us bowed over in tears. They'd want us to be happy and uplifting as if they were next to us or in the next room. Let's celebrate our family. They are not dead because they live forever in our hearts.
Till We Meet Again....we recon for the final battle.

Sometimes when you plan things, life comes at you. You'll find yourself set back, or blowing the plan off because you have time. Or maybe you find yourself going back to the drawing board because the original plan was a full on Run, in the Crawl, Walk, Run phases. Since I can remember I've always been this way. Only lately I've developed a weaker state of mind. Call it life or whatever. But I know that no matter what I can always fall back to the things I know in order to get s**t done. There a shot ton of people of instagram that you end up falling envious to. Some of us dont realize it. It can be some guy who's never served in the military and because hes good at whatever, people will believe they are above approach. It can be someone who served and received all the Special Operations and believes that civilians are not worthy of A or B.....its not about them. It's about you. You being better than you were yesterday, or an hour ago. Stay focus. [EXECUTE]

mentioned something in one of his many great dialogs, and I quote,"Sometimes you have to remind yourself that you were once a bad mo********er." I love this picture because I entered into the Marines as soon as I was 18. I actually entered at 17 which got me in a little trouble...but I did so to escape the neighborhood I grew up in. I survived 18 years in the crap. I not only deployed to Kosovo soon after bootcamp, but experienced things that I was ill-equipped for. Above all, it made the person that I am today.

People are gonna tell you what you're not. They have all the opinions. They have all the insults. They have all the insight of who and what you are. You will make it, but there will be someone better in status or position. It will seem like you've never made it. It will sometimes seems like there is no end in sight. Just in case you dont understand the purpose of every post here. I'm not doing this for the likes, the follows, or money. I'm not doing this for me. There is some person, somewhere who wants to make themselves better. He is unsure of himself because the world is telling him that he's not. The funny thing is he's actually more. The World Wars of men who decided they'd rather defend their country than sit idle. They where men of the work force, with skills, degrees and so on. What different the young man who decides to volunteer in today's military?

The sublime messages.....
Remember when we were kids we were taught, "Practice make perfect."? Its impossible to be perfect. Because we are flawed as humans, but my appreciation for the Japanese outlook on the matter lies in the the phrase "ensō". Within itself has a multitude of meaning, one that I have held onto from the first time I learned of it as a kid: Never ending struggle to become [enter word here].....
So in essence, practice does NOT make perfect, practice makes improvement. We are starting all over again.

31 Years Old/ 200lbs: I remember when I was told while raising my right hand at MEPS, "You're the old guy of the group, and will have to deal with a younger generation.", Little did he know. I'm smart as s**t; knowledge driven, I literally knew my job and 2 positions up. Sacrifices family for military. I knew my purpose, highly focused to be better than I was yesterday. Worked well with anyone. Can take an ass chewing, stood up for those in the name of justice (Black Captain America), and Would fight for my brothers with out asking questions (Dark Knight). The Grind motivated the s**t out of me. Pain and suffering was my bestfriends. Ive accomplished things but it's not enough. Im starving and the thirst is real. Im nomadic in the sense that, I'm not comfortable staying in one place. I barely get sleep and I have a heavy dose of "Away Sickness" If you know me ➡Recondo

41 Years Old/ 240lbs
I've made it. I worked on my family that I've had a hand in tearing apart. My daughter finally tells me she loves me after 4 years from returning from overseas contracting (circa 2017) I'm only strong because its god given, it feels like its fading thoug. My career in Law Enforcement has been......interesting. I've even opened a business that edges on its 1 year anniversary: doing better than I wanted. (Modern Swordsman). Although I've accomplished great things, I've never questioned myself so much as I have lately. Bought a house. Financially well off. Despite those accomplishments, my motivation is at an all time low...
Victory has made me weak

I think back to when I was talking to a co-work at the department couple years ago. Still fueled with motivation; I'm talking about all I've done in the military and before. I wasnt bragging, but explaining things like SPIES and FRIES, etc. His response was, "and now you work here, all of that you've done amounts to what here?"
There is something about the sublime message that is allowed to be planted and take root and grow. It will hinder you in the long run when you need it most.

I contemplate why post things like this on social media. But when I remember the reason I changed my purpose, I know that I have to show and prove. That it's not about me and how well I appear. I'm only attempting to be better than yesterday and thats it. But it's also for those who look like me, and havent seen the way.....

This man here was my project. All his leaders gave up on him. Seen him as another one of them. How he talked, how he walked, what he did on his free time, where he came from, etc.,.....things that were all too familiar to me.

This young man had a natural like for the M3A3 Bradley. Anyone who knows me, knows I hate tracked vehicles. Loath them. His Team Leader at the time would never let him read the bradley manual. I stole it for him, because all he wanted was training. The way I taught and trained men, I was called names like "Private cuddler", "Soft Sergeant", etc.....

Long story short. If you have people under your tutelage, lead them not from the front. Lead along side them. Have a genuine care for them. Call it a Recon thing, but it's like checking the ruck sack of your Commandos. Check on them, their families, girlfriends/wives. If you cant do this, leadership is not for you.

2 years ago to this day, I made a choice that would define not only my character, but the very fabric of the words I chose to use. The choice was A: To be the fool of a tactical gear company and support those wouldnt support my ideas, only to use those ideas later.
B: Take the step to be someone better than the gear that's being made.....I chose B.
Because; It is not the gear, and it is not the tactics.
It's always been about you.
No one will remember your gear or your tactics. They will only remember who survived....so put your s**t on. Because we've got more work to do.

What is Modern Swordsman?
Modernswordsman is neither motivation or a discipline. It is not given nor acknowledged by others who excel at a thing, because those things are valued within their respective "groups". When there is something of value, it will be set to a flame uselessly. (elite mentality) It is also, not a group itself, yet there are many like you who were born out of nothing and hold only one thing of value (honor);...HONOR AS A WAY OF LIFE.

The Modern Swordsman is not a man born into honorable families that for the namesake are carried at the forefront of his or her path. They are nameless, without status and birthright;...."They are not honorable Samurai with family heirlooms, nor masterless Ronin who hold titles and techniques.

The Modern Swordsman is the concepts of the old ways combined with the new; It is a concept that compels the mind to be set in the readiness to be able to perform, because when that time comes everyone will be looking for you to make the right decision.

So get up, put your s**t on, because we've got work to do......."Only the tools of the warrior change, NEVER his mindset!"
