Not every tiny animal is a baby. Meet the Pudú, the world's smallest deer. Adults stand just 25–43 cm (10–17 in) tall at the shoulder and usually weigh only 3.5–13 kg (8–29 lb). Found in the dense temperate forests of Chile and Argentina, these shy deer rely on thick vegetation to hide from predators. They feed on leaves, fruits, bark, shoots, and flowers, helping maintain healthy forest ecosystems. Despite their adorable appearance, habitat loss, road accidents, and free-ranging dogs have made pudú populations increasingly vulnerable. Sometimes, the smallest creatures have the biggest story to tell. 🦌🌿
