Canada's men's soccer team made history today at BC Place in Vancouver, securing their first-ever FIFA World Cup victory in a dominant 6-0 rout of Qatar. Having previously played in the 1986 and 2022 tournaments, Canada returns on the world stage as a co-host with the United States and Mexico. Striker Jonathan David led the charge with a spectacular hat-trick, becoming the first player to score three goals on home soil in a World Cup match since 1966. The co-hosts controlled the match from start to finish, with Cyle Larin and Nathan Saliba also finding the back of the net, putting Canada at 4 points in Group B and within striking distance of the knockout stage. The team will face Switzerland on Wednesday, June 24, aiming not only to top the group but also to reach the round of 32 for the first time.
