Biniam Girmay from Eritrea currently has 102 points in the 2025 points classification, fourth place following Stage 7 of the intermediate Sprint. In this stage, he secured a second-place finish, trailing behind overall points leader Jonathan Milan. Girmay remains in pursuit of his first stage victory of the year, having achieved three wins in 2024 and concluding that season with a green jersey. The tour has five flat stages left, so the Eritrea rider still has the chance to capture his first and beyond.

🏆 Rankings after stage 4

Jonathan Milan's team achieved their goal of scoring points in the intermediate sprint to maintain their lead in the green jersey, despite knowing the final stage finish would be challenging for him. Milan's team navigated stressful conditions to win the intermediate sprint, and he remained calm afterward, conserving energy for future sprints. Milan expressed satisfaction with his condition and praised his team's support in the sprints, which helps him manage chaotic situations and stay out of trouble.

“The sprints at the Tour de France are a bit more chaotic than in other races. Everyone wants to do something, and it’s sometimes difficult to manage the situations as they come. It’s good for me to have a team that is supporting me in the sprints full on, keeping me out of trouble, “ Milan said.

Biniam Girmay finished 6th in the stage, safely navigating the chaotic sprint in Dunkerque. He currently holds 2nd place in the green jersey standings with 77 points, 4 points behind leader Jonathan Milan.

Biniam Girmay's leadout man, Laurenz Rex, crashed in the last 5 kilometers, injuring his hand. Fortunately, the wounds appear superficial, and he's expected to recover.

The Intermarché-Wanty squad did a great job keeping Girmay safe at the front of the peloton, shielding him from the chaos that unfolded during the stage. Girmay expressed relief at finishing safely, saying, "I think we ride in hell today".

The current standings for the green jersey are: Jonathan Milan (81 points), Biniam Girmay (77 points), and Tim Merlier (63 points).
