Introducing Payton King and Rebecca Gossett, creators of this year's winning project 'GIVE & TAKE.' While running a simple errand, Michael and Kris's world is turned upside down when the local bookstore is robbed at gunpoint. Separated and with nowhere to go, they must come together to save each other.

Introducing Kane Kettering, creator of this year's winning project 'Collapse.' Collapse is a film set in a dystopic post-governmental corporate run world where anything and everything is for sale. Allegiances and safety are fleeting as competing agendas complicate even the simplest of goals.

This month, we are featuring each of our 2026 Local Filmmakers Grant recipients and sharing a little about their respective projects.

Introducing Zack Collins, creator of 'The Haze.' On the anniversary of a brutal hazing incident years ago, a group of college students on a weekend retreat are hunted by an unknown killer. Set in the fictitious town of Foggy Bluffs in the North Georgia Mountains, the story follows a group of frat brothers from Phi Sigma Psi fraternity and their sweethearts-- mixing a bit of fun with tradition, but find themselves in the crosshairs of a deadly past.

The Haze is a fresh and ambitious, elevated slasher short film from the mind of Writer-Director, Zack Collins of Philmwurks. The film is produced in association with Last Caress Productions and Mud Films. Production of The Haze begins this Summer, with a projected release date on Halloween.

Introducing Princess Gooden, creator of this year's winning project 'PRINCESS.' Based on a true story or not. Her real name is Princess. But there was no castle, no king, no fairy tale waiting for her in Atlanta, Georgia. Just a name that didn't match the life — and the lies people wanted her to tell. PRINCESS is about answering the call, not the name.

Introducing Paul Rowe, creator of this year's winning project 'Die Alone.' Six months after an apocalypse reshapes America, a contract killer crosses the devastated South to honor one final job. Die Alone is a high-concept survival thriller feature film centered around the themes of grief, guilt, and human connection.

This project is brought to you by Paul Rowe of Last Caress Productions, Trey Walker of Mud Films, and producer Andy Carpenter.

We are so PROUD of this Columbus-filmed project. Check it out at the Atlanta Film Festival this Friday, May 1!

🐣 Shot in Columbus: Oh Happy Day! 🐇

Ivan Rome, a Georgia filmmaker, is the director and screenwriter of “Oh Happy Day!,” which will screen at the Atlanta Film Festival on May 1 at 7 p.m. at the Tara Theatre.

Filmed in Columbus, the 12-minute short follows a shy, young boy trying to impress his crush over the course of Easter week. It received the audience award in the student short film category at the Charlotte Film Festival.
A lighthearted coming-of-age story, the film offers a charming and heartfelt look at young love.
