Congrats to our favorite author Candice Millard and her excellent new Netflix series "Death By Lightning". Just released last week the story of rise and murder of President James Garfield of Mentor, OH has some of our favorite actors and was really well done. 10/10 recommend. Was asked to do a Q&A with one of my favorite authors, Keith O'Brien, and his award-winning Pete Rose biography from 2024, Charlie Hustle: The Rise and Fall of Pete Rose. 80 years ago today the Enola Gay piloted by Columbus native Paul Tibbetts dropped the atomic bomb on Hiroshima, Japan. In an instant the world changed forever and 70,000 were dead. We look at the decision to use the weapon, that did end WWII, and Tibbetts unique perspective as the man that captained the mission and launched the Atomic Age. Ohio v. the World is putting together our production schedule and news shortly on Season 9 of the show.

61 years ago today, Bexley, OH native Jerrie Mock completed her historic flight by landing at Port Columbus Airport. Jerrie was the first woman to fly solo around the world. Tommy Thompson of Columbus discovered a sunken ship with $100 million in gold onboard in the 1980s. Thompson utlimately owed his investors millions of dollars and was found and arrested in 2015. For 10 years, he's been in jail refusing to give up the location of an offshore account with some 500 gold coins he had made. Today, the Judge agreed to release him in two years after he serves the rest of his sentence, being fined $1000 a day for refusing to comply. This crazy, crazy story was one of Ohio v. the World's first episodes, listen below to "Ohio v. Gold."

Jan. 28, 1986: Challenger Explosion. 39 years ago today one of the formative moments of my childhood, the Challenger Disaster, played out on live TV. Ohio v. the World met with the family of Judy Resnik from Akron, one of the astronauts killed that day. We also sat down with one of the leaders of the federal inquiry into what caused the disaster. 110 years ago tonight one of the most remarkable moments of the 20th Century occurred: the 1914 Christmas Truce on the Western Front in WWI. German and English soldiers singing carols across the trenches, decided to meet in No Man's Land and forget about war for one day. This is that story. Merry X-Mas!
