The word “liberation” came to me in 1999.
I remember hearing Mary Mary’s song “Shackles” and thinking to myself, “It’s not the shackles—it’s the mind.” That thought inspired me to place my message on a T-shirt. An artist named Tony Rogers created the illustration: a man with an exploding brain as chains fell away from his head.
To me, that image represented the deepest form of freedom—the liberation of the mind. From that moment forward, I carried the word liberation with me.
In 2001, liberation began revealing itself in my life once again. Later that year, I started writing poetry. A friend suggested that I place my poems in frames and sell them. I had never considered it before, but that simple suggestion sparked another idea: Nicole’s Liberation Gift Baskets.
And what beautiful gift baskets they were!
I wrote personalized poems in which the first letter of each line spelled out the recipient’s name. I searched for elegant wine glasses, unique baskets, and special items that made every arrangement one of a kind. Over the years, I sold hundreds of them.
In 2004, I received the baptism of the Holy Spirit, and an even greater sense of liberation came into my life and rested upon me. At the time, I worked for Picture Me, a photography studio located inside many Walmart stores. I took what I learned there and created Liberation’s Photography. The original page is still online today.
Then, in 2006, I experienced a complete rebirth.
Butterflies seemed to appear everywhere. I would bring something home, look at it closely, and discover that a butterfly was hidden somewhere in its design, shape, or pattern. The butterfly became a symbol of transformation, renewal, and the freedom to become who God created me to be.
From that transformation came Liberation’s Publishing House.
Today, Liberation’s Publishing House produces books, toys, creative concepts, and so much more. This year, we are releasing three classics through our Living Legacy Classics collection: The Scarlet Letter, The Great Gatsby, and The Wind in the Willows.

Oh, what goodness God reveals when we are willing to recognize what the Spirit is saying!
You must work while it is day. God continues to visit you with ideas, opportunities, and direction, yet you are not doing the work. You have stopped cultivating your own vision because you are coveting someone else’s, trying to build another person’s dream, or attempting to make their vision your own.
You must work the ground where God has planted you.
“Where are you, Adam?” Why have you abandoned the work you were given to do?
It is not another person’s responsibility to keep your dream alive. That responsibility belongs to you. God has already given you the vision, the gifts, and the opportunity, yet you are still not producing.
Instead, you make excuses and blame others: “The woman whom You gave me…”
But excuses cannot produce fruit. Stop looking at who failed you, who did not help you, or who appears to be succeeding ahead of you. Return to your assignment. Cultivate what God placed in your hands, work the ground where He planted you, and bring the vision He gave you into fruition.

With every word I received, I believed it. I acted upon it, nurtured it, and brought it into fruition.
That is why we have decided to change the Liberation’s Publishing House logo back to the butterfly. The butterfly was never simply a design. It has always represented liberation—the transformation that brought me to this place of living as a creator of beautiful things.
As far as my imagination can dream, I am willing to pursue it.
I thank God for breathing the word liberation into my life during a time when I was ready for change. Everything I do is intentional and strategic because I believe that the steps of the righteous are ordered by the Lord.
I could write an entire book and still not fully express the depth behind these few words.
For now, I simply wanted to give you a glimpse. And the Butterfly is here to remain!
