We regularly see injured dogs, lost cats, and the occasional raccoon someone insists is “just being friendly.” But a deer? That was a first. And not just any deer—this one was calm. Silent. It approached the entrance like it had an appointment. When I opened the door, I expected it to bolt. But it didn’t. It stepped inside slowly, deliberately—as if it knew me. It was young, probably not more than a year old. Its coat was speckled, and its demeanor oddly serene. No visible injuries. Just... an unsettling calm. Too calm. And its eyes.
