Immerse yourself in the enchanting realm of vintage radio with Noah Martin at the helm as he breathes life into Bram Stoker's timeless masterpiece, "Dracula," through the brilliant writing of Orson Welles. Available wherever you listen to podcasts right now!
Initialy performed by Mercury Theatre on the Air (1938-1939), Dracula starring Orson Welles aired on July 11th, 1938 as the first episode of the Mercury Theatre on the Air. The script has since fallen into the public domain, and can now be performed by radio theatres across the board. Originaly, this cast starred the likes of Orson Welles as Dracula/Dr. Arthur Seward, George Coulouris as Jonathon Harker, Ray Collins as Russian Captain, Karl Swenson as The Mate, Elizabeth Farrell as Lucy Westenra, Martin Gabel as Professor Van Helsing, and Agnes Moorehead as Mina Harker.
The story follows Dr. Arthur Seward as he reads aloud journals from people who had encountered a man known as Dracula. Upon discovering Dracula's plan, Seward meets with Dr. Van Helsing and some of the victims of Dracula to finally put a stop to the menace.
In an effort to pay respect to the great minds that came before us, Retrospection Radio Theatre has elected to perform this brilliant script in the modern day, with their own twist to it. I, Noah Martin, am proud to have found such a wonderful cast to recreate such a chilling and classic story. What is there not to love about vampires?
