..FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 445 PM CDT THIS AFTERNOON...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...A portion of west central Texas, including the following
counties, far southern Brown, far southern Coleman, northern
McCulloch and northern San Saba Counties.

* WHEN...Until 445 PM CDT.

* IMPACTS...Flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 245 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated an east to west band
of showers and thunderstorms with very heavy rain, extending
across the far northern parts of San Saba McCulloch, and far
southern Coleman and extreme southern Brown Counties. This
band of showers and storms was moving verly slowly south at
10 mph. Flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in
the advisory area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have
already fallen.
- Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1.5 inches are expected
over the area. This additional rain on saturated ground will
result in flooding, especially in low-lying areas. Street
flooding is likely in the towns of Rockwood, Winchell, Elm
Grove and Spring Creek.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Mercury, Winchell, Elm Grove, Skeeterville, Rockwood,
Waldrip, Gouldbusk, Milburn, Whon, Us-283 Near The Mcculloch-
Coleman County Line, Locker and Spring Creek.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 143 PM CDT, National Weather Service radar indicated
showers and a few thunderstorsm with heavy rain over southern
Brown County. These showers and thunderstorms were moving
very little. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly in the advisory area. Between 0.5 and 0.75 inches of
rain have fallen, and an additional one half to one inch is
expected.
- The additional rain on saturated ground will result in minor
flooding, especially in low-lying and flood prone areas.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Brookesmith, Elm Grove, Winchell, Indian Creek and Milburn.

and central Comanche Counties through 1030 PM CDT...

At 942 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near
De Leon, or 12 miles north of Comanche, moving southwest at 15 mph.

HAZARD...Winds in excess of 40 mph and pea size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is
possible.

This strong thunderstorm will be near...
Comanche around 1015 PM CDT.

Other locations impacted by this storm include Comyn, Downing,
Rucker, Proctor, Van D**e, Hasse, Beattie, Sipe Springs, Sidney, and
Duster.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to
localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe

CDT...

At 856 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 7
miles north of De Leon, or 13 miles northwest of Dublin, moving south
at 15 mph.

HAZARD...Winds in excess of 40 mph and half inch hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is
possible.

This strong thunderstorm will be near...
De Leon around 910 PM CDT.

Other locations impacted by this storm include Alexander, Proctor,
Clairette, Harbin, Lingleville, Duster, Bunyan, Edna Hill, Comyn, and

At 606 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near
Cisco. This storm was nearly stationary.

HAZARD...Winds in excess of 40 mph and half inch hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is
possible.

This storm will remain over mainly rural areas of northwestern
Eastland County, including the following locations... Morton Valley,
Ni**od, Pleasant Hill, Carbon, and Olden.

This includes Interstate 20 between mile markers 327 and 345.

- At 7:00 AM CDT Tuesday the stage was 13.1 feet.
- Bankfull stage is 20.0 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage
late this afternoon to a crest of 24.6 feet this evening. It
will then fall below flood stage late this evening.
- Flood stage is 24.0 feet.
- Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of
24.5 feet on 06/19/1961.
