Most people never stop to think about the unique shape of a Cavalier King’s paw pad, yet there is quite a bit of variety to discover down there. 🐾
1. Find a calm time when your Cavalier King is resting and gently hold their paw steady to inspect the pads without causing any discomfort.
2. Look closely at the central pad’s shape to see if it resembles a soft cloud, a rice grain, a semi-circle, an onigiri, a triangle, or even a rocket shape.
3. Inspect the thickness of the skin on each pad, as this can change depending on whether your Cavalier King enjoys running outdoors, playing on grass, walking on rough paths, or relaxing indoors.
4. Run a finger gently along the edges of the toes to see if the pads appear compact or slightly spread out, which can show how your dog naturally balances their weight.
5. Wipe away any moisture, dust, or dirt so you can clearly see the unique contours of each pad against the soft fur between the toes.
