Great reflection for todays

Let's all try to make this world a better place!

In honor of today - World Health Day - we wanted to share a reflection with you. We all have been thinking a lot about health this last year, it was and is still a very present subject.
But what is health?
The WHO defines it as: “A resource for everyday life, not the objective of living. Health is a positive concept emphasizing social and personal resources, as well as physical capacities.”
So, health is a resource to support an individual’s function in a wider society, rather than an end in itself. A healthy lifestyle leads to a full life with meaning and purpose. This concept is not only applicable to the individual person, but also to any type of company – in a wider perspective, trespassing the health frontiers and going over to an ethical approach.
Denim is becoming more and more ethical as consciousness and awareness grows – it’s use of water, pesticides, dyes, traceability and labour.
Here’s to a more ethical and healthy denim industry – big thank you to all those brands already applying solutions to get more into the right direction.
But it’s not only up to the big brands, it’s as well up to the consumer – to every private person to be willing to follow the right path.

Happy International Women Day 💙

Did you know that denim pants became a symbol of independence, freedom and a distancing of the traditions of the past – until it finally became a fit for men and women making it an icon of gender equality?
Here is a bit of the denim history at this very special day - Happy International Women Day to all you beautiful ladies! 💙
Since more or less the 1850s denim fabric has been around for years. 🧵
In 1872, Levi Strauss designed along with Jacob Davis a workwear made from denim fabric – the nowadays known vintage jeans. 👖
It took about 60 years to introduce the women to the todays must-have fashion item – around the 1930s the first Lady Jeans were launched – which commonly were used by women working on farmland, agriculture or at ranches. 👩🏻‍🌾
Of course, women started to wear them already before that, for example during WWI, as they had to take over to fulfill the duties of the men. However, before the 30s it was socially unacceptable for women to wear denim pants.
During WWII denim-dressed women became a symbol of the war effort – after this denim wear became more accepted among women clothing and as a casual wardrobe as well.
The 60s and 70s are characterized by several important social movements, for instance the sexual revolution and fight for equal rights. 💪🏽
Jeans was not just a garment – everyone wore jeans: college students including denim in their uniforms, hippies and anyone who identified themselves as part of the “counter-culture”.

Sustainability as a lifestyle - we can all contribute to a greener way of life!

What does it mean to be sustainable? Nowadays we read it everywhere – everyone is conscious, recycles, reuses and also more and more the companies claim to be green and take sustainable measures – even in the most polluting industries.

The question is:
How green are they really?

Applying sustainability on a daily basis is not just a trend – it’s a LIFESTYLE !

It doesn’t make much of a difference if we work in a sustainable company, recycle at home and drive hybrid cars, but then go every day to have a to-go coffee, using a single use cup; eat packed-up supermarket meat, which comes from mass holdings or getting carried away by pure consumerism.

Of course, not everyone can afford organic food, but in everyone’s own limits we should try to change as much as we can to a more sustainable lifestyle and be aware of your own footprint! It is not hard, it’s just a matter of constancy and willingness of actually making a change.

If we all contribute a small grain of sand we can build a whole castle together! Let’s start building our greener future together!

I recently discovered that there such a thing like a – as lately a lot of people are working from home, it might be understandable. But any denim wear can be just as comfy as your favorite pair of sweatpants!
