This is a small 30-second clip from our Social Dancing Made Easy course where we teach dancers how to stop freezing up and forgetting everything the moment they step onto the social dance floor.

Using our ABC Method, we break combinations down in a way that helps you understand how to connect moves together naturally instead of panicking trying to remember random patterns.

Because social dancing should feel flowing and fun… not like a memory test.

A newer dancer’s brain often sounds like:

“Wait what comes next?”
“Did I mess that up?”
“Oh no I’m off beat.”
“What move should I do now?”
“Don’t freeze.”
“Don’t look awkward.”
“What if I mess this up again?”

A lot of newer dancers are not even dancing in the present moment yet.

They’re dancing in anticipation of a mistake

And because of that, the whole dance can start feeling tense before anything even goes wrong.

Experienced dancers are still thinking constantly as well…

The difference is the thoughts feel calm instead of panicked.

An experienced dancer’s thoughts are usually more like:

“This song is so good.”
“I’ll keep this simple.”
“That mistake was funny.”
“Let’s catch the beat again.”
“This part of the connection feels smooth.”
“She smiled at that.”
“Let’s slow down and enjoy this.”

They’re both thinking.

But one feels like pressure…
and the other feels like play.

That calmness usually does not come from knowing more moves.

It comes from experience.

From surviving enough awkward moments to realize a missed step is not the end of the world. It’s just a little wrinkle

Eventually you stop treating mistakes like proof you’re “bad at dancing.”

They just become part of the dance experience.

And honestly, that mindset shift is usually the moment people finally start looking relaxed on the dance floor.

What thoughts go through your head most when you social dance?

Did this post shift anything for you Mindset wise?

A lot of dancers think bachata is just one skill.

So they keep taking classes, learning patterns, and hoping eventually everything comes together.

But bachata is not one skill.

It is
👉timing.
👉Footwork.
👉Balance.
👉Body movement.
👉Connection.
👉Musicality.
👉Confidence.
👉Improvisation.
👉Transitions.
👉Styling.
👉Fluidity
And more if you’re really granular about it.

The problem is most dancers only train the parts they naturally enjoy or already feel decent at.

Meanwhile, one weak area quietly keeps affecting everything else.

It is similar to going to the gym and only training one muscle group over and over while ignoring the rest of the body.

You are still working hard.
You are still showing up.
But the imbalance eventually catches up to you.

That is why some dancers keep learning more moves for years but still feel awkward socially, inconsistent with timing, disconnected from the music, or unsure of themselves dancing with different partners.

Not because they are incapable.

Because they never properly identified what actually needed work.

Once you understand your strongest areas and your weakest areas, your training changes completely.

You stop randomly collecting information and start training with direction.

That is why we created the Bachata Mastery Score.

It walks you through 13 categories of bachata and helps you identify:

your strongest skills
the areas holding you back most
and what could create the biggest improvement in your dancing next

One thing we hear all the time is that dancers want to improve their footwork… but they do not know how to practice in a way that actually feels fun.

That is exactly why this routine became so popular.
It is not just random steps thrown together to look flashy.

It is designed to help you work on timing, coordination, rhythm, musicality, movement, and control in a way that actually keeps you engaged instead of feeling repetitive or overwhelming.

And honestly, there is something really satisfying about finally getting a footwork pattern to match the music correctly.

Over 243,000 dancers have already practiced this routine on YouTube and the comments are filled with people saying how much fun they had learning it.
The best part is you do not need a partner and you do not need to already be advanced.

We break the entire thing down step-by-step over 38 minutes so you can pause it, replay it, and learn at your own pace.

Completely free.

👉Comment STEPS below and we’ll send you the full tutorial so you can start practicing the routine, improve your musicality and footwork, and join the fun with everyone else already doing it.

We thought this was such a smart way to look at practice because a lot of dancers leave class thinking:

“That was bad. I struggled today.”

But struggling is not automatically a bad sign.

Sometimes it is actually evidence that you are working on something your body has not fully learned yet.

A lot of people think a “good” class means:

everything felt easy
they got every move right
they looked good the whole time

But if every class feels comfortable, you may just be repeating things you already know.

The goal is not to feel amazing every single session.

The goal is to challenge yourself enough that your body has to adapt, while not pushing so hard that you constantly feel defeated.

That is a very different way to think about progress.

Instead of leaving class asking:
“Did I look good today?”

A better question might be:
“Did I challenge my current ability today?”

Because sometimes the sessions where you feel the messiest can still contain a lot of benefits, mini lessons.

Challenging does not equal bad.

What are your thoughts on this perspective, do you agree, disagree or doesn’t it help you adjust your own perspective a little?

We want to hear about it in the comments (we read them all) 😀

One thing a lot of dancers do without realizing it is trying to “fix” their dancing without first understanding what actually needs work.

It is kind of like trying to solve a problem before properly diagnosing it.

You might think your issue is footwork, but maybe your timing is what is making the footwork feel inconsistent.

You might think you need more moves, but maybe your transitions or connection are what make everything feel difficult socially.

Or maybe one weak area is quietly affecting everything else around it.

That is why some dancers can take class after class and still feel confused about why their dancing is not progressing the way they hoped.

Not because they are incapable.

They just have not identified the real issue yet.

Sometimes the biggest breakthrough is simply getting clear on:

what you are already doing well
what actually needs attention
and which area would create the biggest overall improvement if you focused on it

That is exactly why we created the Bachata Score Quiz.

It takes you through 13 categories including musicality, connection, body movement, footwork, confidence, improvisation, styling, partnerwork, and more so you can get a clearer picture of your dancing as a whole.

Not just where you are struggling, but where your strengths are too.

You know the feeling.

The music starts, you begin your footwork… and suddenly your arms feel completely disconnected from the rest of your body.

Maybe they stay stiff at your sides because you are afraid to move them wrong.

Maybe they swing around too much and throw off your balance.

Or maybe the second you start thinking about your arms, everything else starts falling apart too.

This is one of the biggest struggles dancers have when they start doing solo work, because nobody really teaches the mechanics of arm movement.

People jump straight into “styling” without first understanding the basics of how the arms should naturally move with the body.

But arm movement is not supposed to be random.

Your arms help with balance and coordination.
They help connect movement through the body.
They help your dancing feel coordinated instead of disconnected.

And when the mechanics are missing, everything can start feeling awkward even if your footwork is correct.

The good news is this is completely learnable once someone actually breaks it down properly.

That is why we created a free 2-part bachata arm movement series focused on the fundamentals and mechanics of natural arm movement in bachata.

Comment “Arms” below and we’ll send it to you in a DM.

The mistake isn’t which classes you’re taking. It’s not which instructor you’re learning from. It’s not even which moves you know.

It’s the way you’re thinking about social dancing entirely.

Most dancers are trying to complete the wrong goal for their level.
And until that changes, nothing else will.
Think about social dancing in three tiers.

The beginner goal: get through an entire song without blanking out. That’s it. Own a small handful of moves so well you could do them in your sleep. Nothing else matters yet.

The intermediate goal: make the dance more engaging. Now that you’re not panicking trying to survive the song, you can start adding more interesting patterns and making it fun.

The advanced goal: connection, smoothness, leading and following with ease. Wowing people without trying.
The problem is most dancers skip straight to intermediate or advanced goals before they’ve even hit the first one.

They’re trying to be impressive when they can’t even get through a full song yet.

This applies to followers just as much as leaders.

Learn two or three simple stylings you can use in every dance first. Own those. Then add more.

Because the issue was never which moves you know. It’s which goal you’re actually chasing at your level.
Your goals need to be exciting but realistic.

That way you can actually hit them, feel proud, and build momentum into the next one.

When you skip straight to the hardest goal with no clear path to get there, frustration is almost guaranteed.

If you’re still struggling to get through an entire song without blanking out, comment SOCIAL DANCING below and we’ll send you the exact step by step system we put together to help dancers become smooth on the social floor in 30 days.
