🍕❤️ A SLICE OF HISTORY: THE STORY OF SHAKEY’S PIZZA! ❤️🍕

Did you know Shakey’s Pizza has been serving up pizza, music and good times for more than 65 years? 🍕🎶

The story began in 1954 in Sacramento, California, when Sherwood “Shakey” Johnson opened the very first Shakey’s Pizza Parlor. The restaurant quickly became known for something that was a little different from the typical pizza place—live Dixieland music, cold beer, family-friendly fun and pizza! 🎺🍺🍕

The name “Shakey” came from Johnson himself. After suffering from polio as a child, he developed a noticeable tremor, earning him the nickname “Shakey.” He embraced the name and eventually turned it into one of the most recognizable pizza brands in America.

Shakey’s became famous for its Ye Olde Pizza Parlor atmosphere, where families could enjoy a meal while listening to live musicians. 🍕🎵 The chain grew rapidly during the 1960s and became a nostalgic part of childhood for generations of pizza lovers.

And that’s what makes places like Shakey’s so special—the pizza is only part of the experience. It’s the music, the atmosphere, the memories and the tradition that keep people coming back. ❤️

🎠✨ DID YOU KNOW? The Griffith Park Merry-Go-Round Has a Walt Disney Connection! ✨🎠

Tucked away in the heart of Griffith Park is a beautiful piece of Los Angeles history—the Griffith Park Merry-Go-Round, a beloved carousel that has been delighting families for generations.

Built in 1926 by the Spillman Engineering Corporation, the carousel originally operated in San Diego before being moved to Griffith Park in 1937. It features 68 hand-carved, jewel-adorned horses, two chariots, and an impressive Stinson 165 Military Band Organ capable of playing more than 1,500 selections. (Los Angeles Recreation and Parks)

🎠 But here’s where the Disney connection gets REALLY special…

Long before Disneyland opened its gates, Walt Disney would bring his daughters to ride the Griffith Park Merry-Go-Round. According to the City of Los Angeles and Disney, watching his daughters enjoy the carousel helped inspire Walt’s vision for a place where children and adults could have fun together—an idea that eventually became Disneyland. (Los Angeles Recreation and Parks)

In fact, Disneyland’s King Arthur Carrousel is a tribute to that inspiration. Walt later purchased an antique carousel and had it transformed so that every horse would gallop, reflecting what he had envisioned while watching the carousel at Griffith Park.

💔 So why has the Griffith Park Merry-Go-Round been closed?

The carousel temporarily closed in March 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic and reopened in May 2021. But it closed again in May 2022, this time because it needed significant mechanical repairs—and ownership issues made it difficult to move forward with those repairs. One of the owners, Julio Gosdinski, had died in 2020, leaving his ownership interest tied up in probate.

❤️ There is good news!

In 2025, the City of Los Angeles purchased the historic Merry-Go-Round for $1 million with plans to restore and preserve it. Restoration is being pursued with the goal of bringing this incredible piece of Los Angeles and Disney history back to life. Will it happen? We hope so!!!

Imagine standing here knowing that Walt Disney sat nearby watching his daughters ride—and dreaming about the place that would eventually become Disneyland. 🥹✨

🎠❤️ Have you ever ridden the Griffith Park Merry-Go-Round? Would you visit when it reopens?

✨🎩 MICHAEL JACKSON’S HOLLYWOOD STAR HAS A SHOW OF ITS OWN! 🕺🏽🌟

If you’ve ever walked past Michael Jackson’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, you may have noticed something pretty amazing… performers and Michael Jackson impersonators often gather around the star, dancing, posing for photos and entertaining the crowds! 🎶🕺🏽

For many fans, this isn’t just another Hollywood photo stop. It has become a place to celebrate the music, dance and incredible legacy of the King of Pop. ❤️‍🔥

🎤 A few fascinating facts about the star:

⭐ Michael received his solo Recording star on November 20, 1984, at the height of the Thriller era. It is located at 6927 Hollywood Boulevard, right near the famous TCL Chinese Theatre.

⭐ His star is No. 1,793 on the Walk of Fame.

⭐ Michael already had a Walk of Fame star with The Jacksons, located at 1500 Vine Street. His solo star made him one of the relatively few entertainers represented both as a group and as a solo artist.

⭐ The 1984 ceremony was absolutely CRAZY! Thousands of fans packed Hollywood Boulevard. Contemporary reports estimate around 5,000 fans, with some arriving as early as 6 a.m. The crowd became so intense that police struggled to control it, and several people were injured or fainted. 😲

⭐ Michael himself was only at the ceremony for about two minutes, waving to the enormous crowd in his famous white glove.

And decades later, the star continues to attract fans, photographers and performers who keep Michael’s music and iconic dance moves alive right there on Hollywood Boulevard. 🎩✨

There’s something pretty special about seeing someone do the moonwalk just feet from Michael Jackson’s actual star! 🌟🕺🏽

🌸✨ DOLLYFEST IS COMING — AND IT’S GOING TO BE A PARTY OF A LIFETIME! ✨🌸

The first major public celebrations honoring the life and music of Dolly Parton have been announced — and they’re going to be BIG! 💕🎶🦋

The Dolly Parton estate has announced “DollyFest: The Celebration of a Lifetime,” with two-day festivals planned for Nashville, Tennessee 🇺🇸 and London, England 🇬🇧 in 2027!

And there’s something especially meaningful about these celebrations…

DollyFest was Dolly’s dream. 💗

The Nashville event had originally been planned for January 2027, around Dolly’s 81st birthday, with Dolly herself scheduled to participate as performer and host. Now, following her passing, that dream will continue in her memory — expanding into a double-day, double-weekend, double-continent celebration of her extraordinary life and music.

Danny Nozell, Dolly’s longtime business partner and CEO of CTK Enterprises, said the estate believes a traditional public memorial wasn’t what Dolly wanted.

Instead, the goal is to celebrate her the way she lived — with music, artists, fans, joy and a whole lot of Dolly! 🎤🎸💃✨

As Nozell put it, this is “What Dolly Would Do.” 💕

The estate says the festivals will serve as its official commemoration of Dolly’s life, while fans and communities around the world remain free to honor her in their own ways.

And honestly… could there be a more Dolly way to celebrate her legacy than bringing people together for an enormous party filled with music and memories? 🦋💖

The details are still to come, but one thing is already certain:

Dolly’s dream is going to live on. 🌸💗🦋
