Yesterday was one of those cloud nine kind of days.
I spent the majority of the day in a rare, uninterrupted training session with one of my sales team members. She’s a seasoned pro and incredibly coachable, a powerful combo. She came to the table already knowing what she wanted to improve, and we dug in together.
Watching the lightbulbs go off… that click moment where confidence and clarity meet, that’s why I do what I do.
These are what I call my GET TO moments.
I get to coach.
I get to pour into someone who’s hungry to grow.
I get to use the skills I love most.
And I know you have those moments too, the ones that remind you why you’re in the role you’re in. The spark that hooked you, and the feeling that keeps you coming back.
But let’s be honest, we’ve all got HAVE TOs, too.
For me, it’s:
• Long meetings
• Expense reports, time cards, admin work in general
• Staring at data or maps for hours (hello flashbacks from my land days)
They’re parts of my job that I can do and will do well… but I don’t love them.
And that’s okay. It doesn’t mean I quit. It just means I stay aware.
Here’s my rule for avoiding burnout:
Make sure your week has more GET TOs than HAVE TOs.
And one more pro tip?
👉 Don’t avoid the HAVE TOs, neglecting them is a fast track to losing the privilege of the GET TOs.
Curious, what are your GET TO moments?
