Who should we blame for the Bruins loss in game 4? And game 3? And game 2? Of course we should blame the Bruins. They haven't been good enough. It is a difficult thing to admit when you are wrong - and The Sports Machine with Slim hates to say it - but Florida is the better team. Nonetheless.....
Something fishy is going on in the series with Florida. Sam Bennett literally punched Brad Marchand right in the face during Game 3 in a play that resulted in the Bruins captain being pulled from the game, and then having to sit out Game 4 as well. The camera angle that the league had (which clear as day shows the dirty, dirty play) - wasn't released to the public until the day of Game 4. That is suspicious. In fact, it is outright illegal. A man clearly sucker punched another man, resulting in serious injury. Yet the league takes no action? They allow Sam Bennett to play in Game 4 with zero repercussions whatsoever? Well that results in the Bruins having to do something about it themselves......which results in the Bs taking a few penalties....which results in fewer shots on net....which results in a Game 4 loss.
Im not here to say the Bruins are better than Florida. The Panthers have been the better team in this series. But the refs AND THE LEAGUE sure as heck have done their best to try to help the Panthers as much as they can. I am here to say that LOUDLY!

I feel like I have been a lone voice in the wilderness all season long yelling to people that this Bruins team can win it all. As the host of a sports talk radio show, now is the time when I invite all of you to join in the fun. Here is my TOP 10 LIST for why this year is DIFFERENT for the Boston Bruins!
1. The D Pairings – The playoffs started out with McAvoy/Lindholm, Carlo/Gryz, Peeke/Shattenkirk. Peeks gets hurt. The pairings get shuffled. Lohrie and Wotherspoon play rock solid game three. McAvoy is a complete STUD and Lindholm’s game 3 was maybe his best game all year. This D unit is legit.
2. Faceoffs – Was a problem at points during the season. We have turned it around though. Coyle and Zacha are winning faceoffs in clutch situations.
3. The Goalie Rotation – Stick with it! Ullmark in net for Game 4. It’s working!!!
4. McAvoy – Yes, I wrote that he is a TOTAL STUD already. But he deserves his own section. This guy keeps getting better and he is tough as nails. There is no other defenseman in the league that I would rather have.
5. Pat Maroon – The Big Rig circles the rink like a shark waiting to pounce on his prey. He is a proven champion who is showing the young guys how to play and win playoff hockey.
6. Don Sweeney – The Sweenius! He has made all of the right moves this year to get the team to this point. Maroon, Peeke, bringing up Brazeau, holding onto Ullmark (sheer luck)…….everything is feeling good. And will feel better once Peeke and Brazeau get back!
7. The Sweenius didn’t trade Jake DeBrusk! This dude is hot. And something tells me he is ready to shed the “inconsistent” label and stay consistently hot!
8. Jack Edwards – It’s his last year. Well done Jack! He’s a Bruins lifer. Let’s do it for this guy.
9. The struggles we went through earlier this year blowing leads. We dealt with adversity throughout the year, and it made us tough.
10. Jim Montgomery – He learned a lot last year and he is positioned to take things to the next level right now. This is a guy who scored three goals in the title game to win the Maine Black Bears a national championship! He is ready for the spotlight.

The Minnesota Timberwolves may just be the best team in the NBA. 14-1 on them to win it all right now. Just saying. I love my Celtics, but Anthony Edwards is that dude. Minn+550 is a joke. Denver is the only team that has a chance to beat them out West.

The puck drops for game 1 of The Bruins vs Toronto series on Saturday! The Sports Machine with Slim has been telling everyone for months that this Bruins team is going to go on an epic run. Our finish to the season doesn't change a thing for us. Yes the Bruins lost to Washington and then followed that up with last night's loss to Ottawa. But as Phil from the Hangover would say: "This is a good thing".
Let's truly start the process of educating this weak generation of Boston sports fans. It will be a herculean task to toughen them up, but it is one that we here at The Sports Machine with Slim are prepared for!
UConn wins tonight by more than 10. Purdue does not have the speed to pe*****te into the paint. Uconn defense is way too fast and strong. Sorry Purdue, you have zero chance.
