Before we ever roll cameras… we find the truth of the scene. 🎬

This is one of my favorite parts of directing — sitting with my actors, walking through the scene, and discovering what feels honest.

For me, blocking isn’t just about where someone stands or moves. It’s about asking: What is happening emotionally? Why does this moment matter?

We’ll run the scene, feel it out, make adjustments, and run it again. Once everyone feels connected and the moment feels real… then we shoot.

Preparation like this is also what helps us move quickly. When the actors understand the heart of the scene and the crew knows the plan, we can often capture what we need in just a few takes (and sometimes that first take has the magic ✨).

But we always grab one more… because editors appreciate options. 😉

This scene between Hannah and Derek was such an important one, two people carrying history, hurt, and things left unsaid. Watching Marisa and David find those layers was exactly why I love what I do.

Behind every emotional scene is an actor searching for the truth of the moment. 🎬❤️

In this scene from December to Remember, Ella watches her mom collapse, a terrifying moment for a 10-year-old who doesn’t know if the person she loves most is going to be okay.

To bring that fear and heartbreak to life, Liv Davenport used her imagination and connected to the feeling of losing something she loved deeply.

Every actor’s process is different.

In other scenes, Todd Terry and Marisa Lynae Hampton used music to help bring their emotions to the surface.

Memories. Music. Imagination.

Different roads to the same destination:

A moment that feels real. ❤️

✨ A short film was only the beginning.

When we created December to Remember, we wanted to tell a story about family, healing, love, and finding your way home after loss.

What happened next reminded us why stories like this matter. ❤️

🏆 13 awards
🎬 Incredible audience response
✨ And now… Hannah’s story continues as we develop December to Remember into a feature film.

A bigger story.
A bigger journey.
The same heart.

Thank you to everyone who has believed in this little Christmas story from the beginning. We can’t wait for what’s next. 🎄

✨ The heart behind December to Remember ✨

Before there was a script… there was a story.
Before there was Hannah and Grace… there was a daughter who knew what it felt like to miss her mom.

Losing my mom changed me forever. But through the grief, I learned something beautiful, love doesn’t end when someone leaves us. Their wisdom, their laughter, their lessons… they stay woven into who we become.

That became the heartbeat of December to Remember.

A story about family.
A story about healing.
A story about the little reminders that the people we love are never truly gone. 🤍

Because sometimes the greatest gifts they leave behind… are the pieces of themselves they planted in us.

🎶 Meet Sharayah Daves 🎶

We’re so excited to introduce the talented songwriter behind Home for the Holidays, one of the original songs featured in December to Remember.

Sharayah has a gift for capturing faith, family, and the emotions that connect us all. Her music brings heart and authenticity to our story, helping shape the journey our characters take toward healing, hope, and home.

We’re incredibly grateful for her talent and honored to have her music as part of this film.

❤️ Thank you, Sharayah!

Who wants to hear her original song?

There was something really special about the set of December to Remember… ✨

Nearly half of our crew was made up of incredibly talented women, and the energy they brought behind the scenes was unforgettable. From producing to makeup, wardrobe to continuity, set design to sound, these women helped create a set filled with collaboration, encouragement, laughter, and heart.

As a female director, getting to work alongside so many strong, creative women meant more to me than I can fully put into words. Film sets can be exhausting, emotional, and demanding… but this crew made the experience joyful.

So grateful for every woman who poured her talent into this story and helped bring this little Christmas film to life. 🎬🤍

There’s a lot of work that goes into filmmaking… but moments like this are the reason we do it. 🎬🤍

Between setups on December to Remember, the cameras pause, the pressure lifts for a second, and suddenly the set feels less like “work” and more like family.

Watching Todd Terry, Marisa Lynae Hampton, and Liv Davenport laughing and being goofy together behind the scenes reminded me that chemistry on screen usually starts with genuine connection off screen.

The heart behind a film isn’t just found in the script.
It’s built in moments like these. ✨❄️
