I’m not really dumb but I’m letting you know, that there are evil people out there.
My granddaughter screamed after stepping on one of these in our pool yesterday. I thought it was the most unusual find, as we don’t have any of these type of plants laying around.
After diving in and getting our robotic pool cleaner to clean we found at least 50 or so of these.
We have mean neighbors. I filed a report as there is no place else this could have come from. Be careful for as***le neighbors.

I need some help please, I opened my pool already and everything was clear but left the cover on until after pollen season, we set some cyanic acid in a filter bag on the top step to disperse into the pool (steps have jets) and when I opened the cover today I found this, ugh! I thought it just needed brushing off but that didn’t work, magic eraser takes some off but not all. Anyone have any ideas what this might be and how to clean it?

ISO opinions/advice/thoughts.... Summer of 2021, we had our pool installed and blindly took the word/advice of the owner as we had no idea about pools and trusted him. Literal moments after the ink was dry on the check, owner of pool store sells the company and it's under new ownership. Fast forward to Summer 2022 and the pool is leaking, the waterfall is absolute junk and basically, we find out from more than one source (one of which still works at the pool store we had install this) that our pool was installed incorrectly and should never been done this way. New pool store owner (it's still the same name) comes out and agrees (sort of reluctantly, but agreese nonetheless) that they will fix the waterfall. We are grateful and patient and waited for this to be completed, always on the backburner as they don't have the man power to handle all of their customers etc... Here we are in summer of 2024, we are told we need to open our pool the first week of April so they can do the repair before they get busy. Week after week, they are non responsive, they placate, they basically keep putting us off. Long story longer- they "fix" it. When I email (for the second time, she didn't answer the first email) that I am upset, disappointed and exhausted of this being at the bottom of her list, she basically emails me back to tell me "find another pool company". Her argument is that she has tried to please me and it's not working. And she's not wrong, but the reason it's not working is because of what this thing looks like and how this has been handled. So now, we are stuck with this heinous job of a "fix" AND a $5000 pool cover that will not be able to be put on because of this was "fixed". What do I do? Do I just try to get it fixed on my own and suck it up? Do I get an attorney? My biggest concern is going forward because I know that it was installed incorrectly, what major issues will be forthcoming. Before and after pics attached. I appreciate any of you who read this whole thing.

Help! Day 3 of filling.
Backstory: this is After a very long scrub drain and rinse process. The pool was filled with leaves and green and/or yellow algae. I made sure to scrub every inch and used liquid chlorine and a rag and personally wiped down every inch of the pool scrubbed in the folds and everything.
Day 1: It looked brand new and first day fill was clean pure water.
To start I Added what was left of my liquid chlorine which was around a cup into the day 1 fill and skimmed anything that dropped in
Day 2: still skimming constantly, hand stirring the water. added a couple tablespoons of shock
Started noticing little clusters under the water that exploded on the mesh of the skimmer as it approached the surface
Day 3: more little ball /egg shaped clusters on the bottom of the pool some burst on the skimmer as it surfaces some stay on the mesh and appear to be yellow ish green
Water reading : chlorine well off the chart and so is ph
I assumed this was from the liquid chlorine and the shock with the little amount of water.
I do have ph down however was hesitant to put some in since it’s still filling and shouldn’t it dilute itself??
* water level is still below the filter
What’s everyone’s thoughts and would you hop in to splash around and cool off or wait?? The kids are dying to go in.

I’ve seen a lot of posts lately about mustard algae. I’m not going to lie, it’s an awful struggle. We opened the pool in early April and battled it for two months before finally beating it. Our local pool store gave me the best advice and I want to share it for anyone who feels like they are stuck in the cycle of mustard algae.
BLEACH EVERYTHING.
If you have used it in the pool, bleach it. Keep the pool at shock levels of chlorine which means adding a lot. Whatever the maintenance level is for your pool, triple it for this situation. But the bleaching everything is the real key here. If you have a robot vacuum, bleach it after every single use. If it’s on a cord, bleach it after every use. Your pole and the brush. Bleach it after every use. And by bleach it, I mean spray it with a bleach solution. We made a Clorox solution as per the Clorox bottle directions and then poured it into an industrial spray bottle we got at Lowe’s. We bought clean sponges and used them for a one-time use. Cut them if you want, you just need to wipe things down and don’t want to use those sponges again. If you’re not bleaching everything you use every time you use it during an algae bloom, you will reinfect your pool every single time you put things back in.

This is our first summer in our new home with a beautiful in ground pool. We love having guests over to enjoy it too. The problem is our budget. We feel obligated to provide food . Even though our guests bring a side dish to share and whatever they drink it's hard on our budget providing the main course each time. How does everyone handle this? Open to ideas.

Currently have a 21k gallon pool and we use Prestine products. I have a feeling we have mustard algae. Pool is super cloudy and yes we want to the river 😩 and was not aware about bringing the algae home. I’m learning about pool care as I go. What can I use.

On today’s saga of how to get my pool bot green anymore…
Yesterday I posted in here after I shocked my pool (Monday night) yesterday I went to the pool store where they recommended PH down. Used that around 5pm and now while, he’s the pool looks better it’s still very dark green and my chlorine is non existent… (which was high yesterday) I’ll attach test strip from yesterday and the one from just now.
Any advice is appreciated!

For a neat yet eye-catching finish, leave the edges free of plants. A small pond’s hydrophytes may be situated in the center of the design instead. A few young lilies and tufts of ornamental grasses should be a source of comfort for a school of koi.
