Musings.

Just picked up the Tech Air Off Road, after much deliberation and seeking validation / guidance from many friends in the industry. It’s such a strange mental roadblock to overcome and I’m not sure why.

Expensive helmet? Absolutely. Sign me up!

This amazing new technology (Air Vest) which Dakar racers have literally improved and tested which has been proven to mitigate injuries?

I dunnnooooo. Ehhhh. Maybe.

I’d held out for long enough, it was time to do the thing. I evaluated dissenting opinions of the product on the ride home:

- “It’s hot.” All of my vents were open, good airflow seemed to occur, especially while standing.
- “it’s bulky.” It is, more so than elbow / shoulder armor but it’s also an Air Bag. Cartridges and the vest itself have to go somewhere, a reasonable trade off.

Final thoughts: Heading out to ride with Moto Relief and Mike this week, looking forward to use over multiple days. My cover garment is loose enough if the bag has to deploy (I think).

Incredibly useful little bike for getting around at Rallies (Dusty Lizard, UnRally, Get On ADV etc) that has ended up being much more useful than initially anticipated. It’s also pretty popular as people tend to gather around it, ask to ride it or just inquire about it in general. Lastly, for a quick buzz to the Porto potties it simply cannot be beat! 😎😂

Mary’s riding experience with over this past weekend was impressive. Two days of patient instruction, encouraging and motivating her and the rest of the students. Their curriculum was great and the provided consistent feedback throughout both days which enabled learning. Highly recommend MRTC for anyone looking to get a Motorcycle endorsement!
