So wonderful how our industry helps those in need. Thank you Scott Fortunoff for leading the efforts in this fundraiser.
Charlotte, NC – December 23, 2024 – Jaftex Corp. (FreeSpirit Fabrics, Henry Glass & Co., Studio E Fabrics and The Blank Quilting Corp.) is thrilled to announce that the Mountains of Love Quilt Auction has concluded with incredible success, raising a total of $16,000 for the WNC Food Systems Coalition. Thanks to the generous contribution from the Fortunoff Family, the total amount raised has been rounded up to an astounding $20,000. These funds will go directly toward supporting communities in Western North Carolina affected by Hurricane Helene.
The online auction, held November 11 – December 6, allowed quilt lovers to bid on quilts made from the fabrics of many of the world’s favorite designers like Anna Maria Parry, Kim Diehl, Kaffe Fassett Collective and Judy Gauthier to name a few. Participants could bid on as many quilts as they desired.
As winter approaches, the need for support is more crucial than ever. The funds raised through this auction will provide essential assistance, including:
Purchasing and distributing essential food and supplies to those in need throughout the cold months ahead.
Stocking free community pantries to ensuring families have access to staples when they need them most.
Providing nourishing snack bags for children and families.
Serving hot, comforting meals to our neighbors through community meal programs.
"Your support is truly a beacon of hope, wrapping our community in the same love and care that went into each handmade quilt. Together, we are weaving a stronger, more resilient community, one stitch at a time. Thank you for standing with us and for being a vital part of this effort. We couldn’t do this without you", said Dana Choquette, Executive Director of the WNC Food Systems Coalition.
The WNC Food Systems Coalition is dedicated to strengthening local food systems, and this auction has made it possible to continue providing vital resources to those in need. This initiative reflects the heart and spirit of our quilting community coming together for a meaningful cause.
“We are incredibly grateful for the support of all who participated and hope these funds make a lasting impact where it is needed the most”, said Scott Fortunoff, owner and president of Jaftex Corp.
