Catalytic Converter Theft Suspect Arrested in Montgomery County

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TEXAS — Deputies with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man on October 5, 2026, after a catalytic converter theft investigation that began with a citizen’s report of suspicious activity in a Magnolia-area neighborhood.

Deputies from the South Patrol Command were dispatched to the 25100 block of Panther Bend Court after a caller reported seeing a man remove something from underneath a vehicle before leaving the scene. When deputies arrived, they confirmed the vehicle’s catalytic converter had been stolen.

Roughly an hour later, deputies handling an unrelated call spotted a vehicle matching the suspect description traveling from the direction of the theft. The vehicle was reportedly moving at a high rate of speed toward I‑45, prompting deputies to relay the information to MCSO Dispatch. Units in the area located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop.

The driver, Jon Eric Wallace, was detained. During a search of the trunk, deputies found eight catalytic converters, all identified as parts from Toyota vehicles, along with a Hackzall cutting tool and saw blades commonly used in catalytic converter thefts.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, Wallace has a lengthy criminal history and is currently on parole. Wallace was arrested for unauthorized possession of catalytic converters and booked into jail on a $25,000 bond.

Point Blank Man Arrested for Allegedly Failing to Comply With Registry Requirements

POINT BLANK, Texas — A 64 year old Point Blank resident has been taken into custody after authorities say he failed to meet legally mandated registry obligations tied to a prior conviction involving a child.

San Jacinto County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Henry Sherwood, 64, of 236 Casablanca Drive in Point Blank, on a charge of Fail to Comply With Registry Requirements, a violation monitored under Texas law. He was booked into the San Jacinto County Jail, where he awaits further judicial proceedings.

State records list two convictions for Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child, both involving a 10 year‑old female victim. Each offense is classified under Texas Penal Code 22.021(a)(1)(B).

• Offense: Aggravated Predatorily Assault of a Child
• Statute: Texas Penal Code 22.021(a)(1)(B)
• Victim: Female, age 10
• Disposition Date: November 14, 1996
• Judgment: Discharged from incarceration

Individuals convicted under these statutes are required to maintain accurate personal information, report address changes, and complete scheduled verification appointments as outlined in Texas registration requirements.

Sherwood was booked into custody at the San Jacinto County Jail pending a court hearing. Additional details regarding the alleged non‑compliance have not yet been released.

All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Stolen U‑Haul Recovered After Camera Alert In Conroe

CONROE, TEXAS — A stolen U‑Haul truck was recovered Tuesday afternoon after an alert from an Automatic License Plate Reader (ALPR) camera system directed Conroe officers to the vehicle as it traveled through the area of West Davis Street and West Dallas Street.

According to police, the alert was received at approximately 4:00 PM on October 6. Officers located the truck heading eastbound on Davis Street and confirmed through dispatch that it had been reported stolen. A high‑risk traffic stop was conducted in the 1300 block of East Davis Street, where officers detained both occupants.

The driver, Ryan Woessner, 38, was taken into custody after officers learned he had four outstanding State Jail Felony warrants out of Travis County.

The passenger, Alyssa Rutledge, 33, was arrested after becoming uncooperative during the investigation. She was charged with Interference with Public Duties, a Class A misdemeanor. Following additional investigation at the scene, Rutledge was also charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, a second‑degree felony.

Police credited the alert and the swift response of officers for the recovery of the stolen vehicle and the arrests of both suspects, including one wanted on multiple felony warrants. The department noted that the use of available technology continues to support efforts to keep Conroe safe.

Independent Investigation Into Former Conroe ISD Wrestling Coach Underway

THE WOODLANDS — The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office has opened an independent investigation into allegations involving former Woodlands High School girl’s wrestling coach Williams Durning, following a jurisdictional ruling by the Texas Office of the Attorney General.

In April 2026, the Conroe ISD Police Department notified the Sheriff’s Office of allegations involving Durning. At that time, CISD Police advised that they, along with the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office, would lead the investigation, and MCSO’s involvement was not requested.

That changed on September 23, 2026, when both the CISD Police Department and the CISD Superintendent formally asked the Sheriff’s Office to assume responsibility for an independent investigation.

This request followed a determination by the Office of the Attorney General, which found that CISD Police did not have primary jurisdiction to investigate child‑abuse allegations governed under Chapter 261 of the Texas Family Code. Under the statutory framework clarified by Senate Bill 571, the Sheriff’s Office became the proper investigative authority.

The case has now been accepted by the Major Crimes Unit, which is reviewing all evidence, files, and prior documentation. Investigators say they are committed to a thorough, impartial, and legally compliant examination of the allegations.

Sheriff Wesley Doolittle emphasized the department’s responsibility to conduct a complete and unbiased investigation, stating:

“Our primary responsibility is the safety of our community and ensuring that all investigations are conducted with complete integrity, strict adherence to the law, and total impartiality. Our Major Crimes Unit will ensure every aspect of this case is thoroughly evaluated, and any appropriate action under Texas law will be taken, we will ensure justice is served.”

The Sheriff’s Office acknowledged a press conference held October 6, 2026, by State Representative Steve Toth, who urged Montgomery County law enforcement to take over the case. MCSO clarified that they had already received the investigative file on September 23, and active investigative steps were underway prior to the press conference.

Because the investigation is ongoing, the Sheriff’s Office cannot release details regarding evidence, interviews, or potential suspects. Officials reiterated that the case remains active and that all findings will be handled according to Texas law.

Anyone with information relevant to the investigation is asked to contact the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Division at 936‑538‑5900 and reference case .
