The markets are always fun but this one in particular was different, in a good way! While this is the 5th or 6th market I’ve had the pleasure of attending, the factors have always been consistent - same message, same vibe, the same 3 markets a year placed around the same time each year - but only this time the venue changed. A factor that might have cast doubt amongst some, ended up becoming a joyous & successful time for all parties involved. You be the judge, are these the faces of satisfied vendors and customers alike?
A Champion of Central Arkansas, this Black Owned & Operated Market hosts a variety of vendors, local & domestic.
What does it mean to “buy black”? And why should you support it?
Buying black could mean buying from your friend, your co worker, or someone you know who fits the criteria.
The benefits
1️⃣ These businesses usually hire in their communities which lowers unemployment and stabilizes the younger generations through role models, work programs, and the benefits of dollars circulating longer within the neighborhood
2️⃣ The “heritage” that has fallen upon the descendants of the black and brown people is one of disenfranchisement. Many were even the driving force or creative minds behind campaigns, brands & projects alike but were not given the allowance to speak without punishment or subjugation. Buying black gives power to a community and people who have been historically sabotaged
3️⃣ There is honestly no need to delve deeper into the statement made about being the unsung heroes behind many success stories, but the point to be made is that buying black offers a diversity of consumer goods and services that often expands consumer choice leading to more revenue domestically & internationally
