12.5.25 | It's easy to give up, it's hard to stay focused and disciplined. Discipline is one of the hardest things to maintain, most rewarding, and strongest skill all in one word. For example, with myself, I don't like being all consumed in a cell phone when I am out in the world. Avoiding eye contact, head down, and not paying attention. I noticed a few weeks ago I stopped asking people what their names were, which I think is connected because of social media. We see everyone's name in front of us, we don't have to ask. In the new year, I have a way to get away from social media during the day, but what do I want to use that time for? Reading? Writing? Journaling? Revisiting an old hobby? Creating a new one? Not sure. People say, "just delete the stuff off of your phone," which I agree, but you have to retrain you brain in a sense in order for that to work. I like the nostalgic aspect of coming home and being excited to see what my friends are saying online, but I worry that cell phones have made that a rare feeling. A numb dumb scrolling. I guess one of my hobbies used to be online reality gaming. YoWorld used to be the best game when I got home! Before that, I used to play Nicktropolis which was a similar game on Nickelodeon's website.
QOTD: Do you feel like discipline is hard? Why or why not?
