Mt. Vernon-Enola’s Weslee Brown drives to the basket and is fouled during the Warhawks’ 64-39 win over Quitman on Friday night at the Bulldog Complex. The Warhawks are now now 12-2 overall and 3-0 in league play. They started 0-2 and have won 12 consecutive games. Coverage of this game, along with Quitman’s win over Mt. UPDATE: UCA spokesman Tiffany Head told the Log Cabin Democrat on Wednesday afternoon that Veneta Meshelle Fricks is "no longer an employee of the University of Central Arkansas."

ORIGINAL: University of Central Arkansas employee Veneta Meshelle Fricks is in custody at the Faulkner County Detention Center after being accused of beating an 11-year-old boy.

UCA spokesman Tiffany Head told the Log Cabin Democrat on Wednesday that the university has "been made aware of the situation and can confirm that Dr. Veneta Fricks is an employee of the University of Central Arkansas." Head did not say what Fricks' position is at UCA, but a LinkedIn page associated with Fricks identifies her as the university's associate dean of students.

"We recognize the seriousness of the situation, and our thoughts are with all who may be affected," Head said. "We do not comment on personnel matters. The university is assessing next steps in accordance with university policy."

Greenbrier's Trendon Moseley catches a touchdown pass in the first quarter of the Panthers' 49-21 win over Batesville in the first round of the Class 5A state playoffs Friday night in Greenbrier.
The Panthers are now 11-0 and will host Hot Springs Lakeside in the quarterfinal round next Friday.
Mayflower beat Camden Harmony Grove 43-7 in the first round of the Class 3A state playoffs. The Eagles (10-1) will play at Smackover next Friday in the second round.
Conway was idle Friday night after receiving a first-round by for finishing second in the 7A-Centra. The Wampus Cats (8-2) will host Bentonville West in the quarterfinal round next Friday.
Quitman lost to Booneville 69-27 in the first round of the Class 3A state playoffs.
Conway Christian, the defending Class 2A state champion, lost to East Poinsett County 49-7. This was the last game for Coach Justin Kramer as head football coach of the Eagles.
