As Congress begins a month-long August recess, Arkansas Democrat-Gazette / ArkansasOnline.com Washington Correspondent Alex Thomas discusses the priorities of Arkansas’s congressional delegation on “Arkansas Week” tonight at 7:30 with host Michael Hibblen.

Two projects are under construction in Central Arkansas — while independent of one another, they share a goal of creating villages to help those who are experiencing homelessness. One will offer a permanent place to live and the other will be transitional. We’ll talk with Errin Stanger, founder of Providence Park Homes, which is being constructed in partnership with Pulaski County Government on 50 acres of land. Also joining us is the City of Little Rock, AR - Government and City of Little Rock Housing & Neighborhood Programs’ Kevin Howard, who is involved in building the Little Rock Micro Home Village.

We were deeply saddened to hear of the loss of Don Bingham. A man of varied talents and longtime host of Arkansas PBS-original series “The ABCs of Cooking,” Don brought so much warmth and joy to his time with us. He wasn’t just the host of many cooking shows — Don was the heart of them.

Don had a way of making every segment feel like you were being welcomed into his own kitchen. He made cooking feel possible, even special, no matter your skill level. During the holidays, his charm truly shone through in “Holiday Cooking Special With Don Bingham.” Don always seemed to know just the right recipe for the season, and his beautifully set tables made you want to gather with loved ones to savor the moment.

More than a gifted chef, Don Bingham was a generous spirit. We’re grateful for the time we shared with him and the memories he helped create — for us and for so many viewers across the state. Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time.
