My Horry News Waccamaw Publishers was established in 1980 with the launch of our first newspaper, The Horry Independent. Online, we are a daily news operation.

The local leader in community news for Horry County, S.C., MyHorryNews.com is the online landing page for the Waccamaw Publishers family of newspapers, including the Myrtle Beach Herald, Horry Independent, Carolina Forest Chronicle and North Strand News. The website, MyHorryNews.com, is the award-winning local news source. We also publish a series of award-winning weekly newspapers serving various

communities in Horry County, South Carolina. Since 2005, one or more of our newspapers have won weekly General Excellence awards in the South Carolina Press Association annual awards. Following the Horry Independent's launch on March 25, 1980, we launched our second publication, the Horry County News & Shopper, in 1985. The growth of My Horry News continued in 1999 when we acquired The Loris Scene, which covers news in the Loris, Longs and Green Sea communities in Northern Horry County. Our news operation continued to see continued growth with the launch of the Carolina Forest Chronicle newspaper on Nov. 1, 2007 and purchase of the Myrtle Beach Herald newspaper in April 2009. Later that year, we launched our newest publication, Visit!, the newspaper for visitors. We also publish the Horry County Business Journal, which is inserted into the Horry Independent, Carolina Forest Chronicle, Loris Scene and Myrtle Beach Herald. Altogether our print products have a combined circulation of more than 56,000.

Representatives from Raising Cane’s presented architectural renderings of what the new 4,570 square-foot Raising Cane’s would look like at 960 Jason Boulevard.

Raising Cane's, a fast-food chain offering fried chicken and crinkle-cut fries, presented their concept for a Myrtle Beach location to the city's Community Appearance Board on Thursday, Dec. 18.
