WCTE, The Upper Cumberland’s Public Television Station, has been a special part of our region for nearly thirty years. Originally located on the campus of Tennessee Technological University, it was founded in 1978 as a multi-faceted, community

-based educational and public service communications resource that is owned and operated by the Upper Cumberland Broadcast Council. The station has since moved its headquarters to a historical building in downtown Cookeville. WCTE continues to be the only locally originating open-circuit television station within a seventy mile radius of Cookeville, TN and is one of only 350 PBS member stations nationwide. Original, locally produced programming and community outreach continue to be at the core of WCTE’s mission to serve this region. Positioned to enter the digital era, WCTE will continue to grow!
