Next up on the fundraising calendar is the 6th annual Golf Scramble at Birch Ridge Golf Course! We would like to thank Cooper Landing Chamber of Commerce and Visitor's Center, Three Bears Alaska Inc., DOWL, Holland America/Princess Alaska - Yukon Land Operations and Alaska Outdoor Woodstoves for being the first sponsors this year. Thank you to everyone who supported the Phoenix Chapter's annual fundraiser. We are so grateful for the trainings and certifications that this non-profit organization has brought to our crew. We would not have consistent ALS service available for our community if it weren't for their EMT-2 last fall and we have more interest for their EMT 3 this year. We also appreciate access to their live fire trainer and Fire 1, Fire 2 certifications. Learning alongside our mutual aid partners brings a standard and streamlined feel to trainings and helps us all to make the most of our resources. The event itself was a beautiful night and a fitting celebration of our local first responders.

Now that the written tests are done, we can officially celebrate our 4 EMT students who tackled their EMT boot camp style, busting it out in one month! Thank you to all of the community members who supported our volunteers, babysat little Jojo, donated a month of sandwich supplies, and volunteered time as patients. We also appreciate the support of Southern Region EMS Council, Inc. And Cooper Landing Community Library for facilitating the testing process to keep our students local in our service area. It takes a village and now our village is even stronger with 4 new medics!

Happy EMS week, indeed! Thank you, Central Emergency Services for sending your out of service supplies to us over on the East Side. We will be sharing these items with Moose Pass and Hope as well. Hope is especially excited to have access to their first ever Lucas device which can be especially helpful in small, remote departments. We are always humbled and moved when mutual aid departments look out for one another and this is another example of the Fire and EMS family working together for the common good.

A few highlights from a 4 day training opportunity made possible by the Phoenix Chapter of the Alaska State Firefighters Association! A full circle moment as CLES alumna, Lori Marsh led an amazing EMS specific fireground training and taught 6 + departments a few tricks for streamlining care on scene. The Buckaroo fueled the fire crews with a barbecue after 4 days of intense truckie training including ventilation practice, ladder truck ops, live fire evolutions and even rescuing babies. We are so fortunate to have access to these top notch trainings and to have dedicated volunteers that will sacrifice their weekends to attend! Thank you to all of the organizers for making it happen and to everyone who supports the Phoenix Chapter.
